Love and Support for Daniel

Daniel is a 13-year-old boy who was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September, 2014.  Since that diagnosis Daniel has had more than 13 surgeries, 20 rounds of chemotherapy and too many hospital stays to count.  After the joy of being declared cancer free for 6 months Daniel's cancer returned, to both his leg and his lung.  Daniel had to have his leg amputated and, with no more chemo treatments available to try, went on to a drug trial at Sloan Kettering.  After 3 excruciatingly painful rounds in this trial Daniel’s CT scan showed that yet another tumor had grown in his lung, requiring another surgery.  Not only was this Hu3F8 trial unsuccessful, it had a detrimental effect on his overall health, leaving him malnourished, weak and caused severe problems with the healing process of his amputated leg.

5 weeks after the surgery to remove the latest tumor in his lung a new tumor was found, one that had already grown to 3 cm.  This tumor is inoperable.    

Through all of this Daniel's mom, Theresa, has been able to rely on health insurance and personal funds to cover treatment, lost work time, travel, other medical needs and basic living expenses for her, Daniel and Daniel’s sister, Sara.  But now they need the community’s support. 

The funds donated will be used to provide Daniel and his family with medication, food and general living expenses.  We need your help to ensure that Daniel can get the medical support he needs and so that Theresa can continue being there as his caregiver.  Relieving some of the financial burden they have been under will be a great help to Daniel, Theresa and Sara and we will be forever grateful for your support.
