Kokoda Trek for LIVIN
Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged between 15 and 44, about 200 Australians attempt suicide every day and of those, on average, eight will die. On paper this is a statistic, but for many, it is a reality that affects everyone. I believe this reality needs to be changed! Myself and a couple of mates have organised a trip to Papua New Guinea to attempt the Kokoda Trail on the 14th of April till the 25th of April 2019. The Kokoda Trail is in memory of the many brave Australian Service Men and Women. The Kokoda Trail is known as one of if not the most Mentally and Physically challenging treks to do. The distance across the Kokoda Trail as the crow flies from start to finish is 96 km. However if you were to strap a GPS to the leg of the crow and get him to trek it via the wartime trail the actual distance is 143.7 km - you would also climb a total of 6748 metres. As a group, we are trying to raise as much money as we can for group LIVIN. The organisation is dedicated to tackling mental health within Australia and encouraging people to speak up if they are suffering from depression and/or other mental illness. We have all been , or know of someone that received life saving help from LIVIN. The LIVIN motto is "It Aint Weak To Speak". I can personally say by speaking up about my depression, admitting to it and getting the help I needed saved my life. We are asking and would appreciate a donation of any size to help LIVIN with the work they do in fighting against a disease that affects so many. So please dig deep for a great cause. All donations will be donated straight to LIVIN. #itaintweaktospeak
