Donation protected
Lindsey Jean Sweeney, 19, died unexpectedly July 16, 2015 at her home in Portland. It had been several years that Lindsey courageously battled epilepsy. She was born February 23, 1996, in Portland, the daughter of Stephen M. and Jean Crawford Sweeney.
Lindsey graduated from Deering High School, Class of 2014. After graduation she went on to pursue a degree in early childhood education at the University of Southern Maine. This was indeed her calling, after all, she established a profound reputation and level of respect over many years with the Summer at Breakwater camp. She was a consistently energetic inspiration to young girls and boys who attended the very place that deeply influenced her life. Lindsey dedicated her life to family and friends. She was exceptional at expressing her love and compassion for others which always showed through her ability to nurture relationships. Lindsey’s capacity to deeply care for others enabled her to maintain close bonds with a vast network of friends. She kept friendships from early childhood incredibly strong while always reaching out and welcoming new people into her life. Her sweet smile, huge heart and love of life will carry on through family and friends.
All donations will go to a scholarship in Lindsey’s name for future children to attend Summer at Breakwater Camp. This will allow Lindsey to continue to impact this world in a place she loved and meant so much to her.
