Help Lily & The Halls Beat Cancer
Donation protected
Hello Friends,
We are raising funds to help the Hall Family get through a very difficult time. Both Chris and Hollie Hall have had to leave their jobs in order to care for their 15 year old daughter Lily. Here is her story;
Two years ago Lily Hall, then aged 13, found out she had an inoperable brain tumor. At that time the Halls didn’t know if it was cancer so they embarked on a year long journey of discovery to figure out exactly what was going on in Lily’s brain. Unfortunately Lily was finally diagnosed with “Grade 2 Glioblastoma” brain cancer. Lily started with mild chemotherapy but it didn’t help.
So, last spring Lily had a Biopsy (Major Brain Surgery) and she was officially diagnosed with grade 3 anaplastic astrocytoma.
this past summer she started radiation therapy. She seemed to be tolerating it well and made it through almost all the treatments and then on September 7th her dad, Chris found her having a seizure in her bed. She was rushed to BC Children’s Hospital. The CT scan showed that the left side of her brain was swollen and began steroid treatment.
Lily spent 2 days in ICU at children’s Hospital. Then she was transfered to the oncology ward. Now she is in Sunny Hill Rehab Centre for Children. Lily now has to relearn how to walk and talk. She is making progress daily. Regardless of this she will be starting Chemotherapy next week in hopes of stopping the growth of the cancer and shrink the tumor.
Because Lily can’t come home yet Chris and Hollie take turns sleeping on a mattress on the floor in Lily’s hospital room so she doesn’t wake up alone. One or the other is with her most of each day, taking time out only to go shopping or go home to spend a little time with their older daughter and pets.
A quote from Hollie, Lily’s mom;
“This is going to probably be a very long recovery for her. Please send loving thoughts to her. Also, if you are a parent, please, please hug and tell your kids how much you love them. We can often take what we have for granted. Be thankful that you have healthy children no matter how old they are.”
I know they will appreciate any help we can give.
