As some of you know from our posts on Facebook yesterday, we were hit by another car while on tour in Michigan. We are ok and didn't get any injuries, but Lil'Chief was banged up badly and the front was totally smashed. We are tentatively optimistic that nothing serious has been damaged with the engine and drive train as he still drives after we pulled out the pushed in radiator support. We haven't yet been able to find a place that can check alignment and make sure nothing is seriously bent. White Trash McGyver spent last night in the cold and the rain, installing new headlights and turn signal bulbs so we can legally drive it down the road. As you know Lil'Chief is not just our home away from home, he's part of our family and we care for him deeply. People have told us we should just total him (gaaaasp - blasphemy!!) but for many reasons we really need to fix him up so we can continue this tour, as well as the next one we have booked for 2019. Below is a list of the parts we need and estimated prices for parts and labor. We are comparing prices and shipping, with ideas on what we can find from junk yards. Believe me, we are trying our best fixing this as cheaply as possible. Anything you can contribute with will help. Please help Lil'Chief get well again.

Parts needed:
Hood $150
Fender, driver's side $80
Fender splash shield $20
Grille $50
Bumper Face bar + mount arm bracket $100
Valance panel $50
Turn signal assembly x2 $80
Turn signal x2  $60
Radiator assembly $90
Radiator fan blade $60
Misc, screws, paint etc $60
Body work $700

Total $1500

*As some have asked - the accident was not our fault, but the police deemed it no ones fault. We don't have collision insurance as this would be awfully expensive for a motorhome, so we are on our own with repairs.

Hey friends and lovers!
Here is a little update from Lil'Chief. He got a new hood the other day. We found a hood that was in pretty good shape in a junkyard in South Carolina. Jonas has installed it and it looks much better now. The fender is till bent and broken as you can see in the picture but this is a big job to fix so we are holding off a little on that.
Thank you all again for helping us restore Lil'Chief!

Dear friends! We have arrived in Pittsburgh, and so have all the parts that we have ordered. We are parked at our friend's art studio backyard, so we're away from the street, and that is nice. Yesterday was cold and rainy, but Jonas was a trooper and spent all day working on Lil'Chief. There's more than just the cosmetic damage as the radiator support and wheelhouse got pushed in and bent in the crash. Jonas tried his best to hammer it out so we could fit the new parts.

Being on the road means we can't leave Lil'Chief in a body shop for a few days to get this fixed, so we are doing what we can, when we can. Installing a new radiator support and getting the wheel house fixed will have to be a later issue, although if you know anyone who has a body shop on our tour route let us know ;)

The things we are still trying to locate is a new hood and a new fender. We're trying to figure out what to do with this as we could order them new, but they would come unpainted which means we'd have to find a place that can paint them, and apparently that is very expensive. So right now we are checking online for junk yards that may have a white Toyota 4Runner 89-95 hood in good shape.

Jonas was installing the new front bumper as I left to find wifi at the local university so I could make this update. Although Lil'Chief will still be a bit crooked, at least he's starting to look more like himself.
Thank you again for all your help!

Aaaaand we are FUNDED! Thank you everyone for contributing. Lil’Chief and us say thank you! Parts are ordered and we are heading out to scout for the big parts like hood and fender tomorrow. Will try to find a shop that can check the alignment so we have confirmation that nothing has happened that we have not yet noticed. I will keep you all updated on the progress. Again - thank you all so much! <3
