Dear Footlights Theatre Friends
Last week, during our inspection, I received bad news. I was told that our stage lighting system must be replaced NOW. The instruments are “dinosaurs”, recycled over the years from other mixed venues. Most importantly, they are a fire hazard. Our insurance no longer allows for “used” electrical items, so it must be purchased new.
The new lighting system and a master electrician to install it comes to just over $8,000.
This need is immediate. It could not come at a worse time, as we are “in between” last season (which closed 2 weekends ago) and the summer season (which opens in June). This immediate financial need was not, obviously, planned and we need everyone’s help to make this possible.
Folks- this is serious, as we need a lighting system now. Please donate what you can… ask your family, friends and co-workers to contribute. If you know someone who is financially comfortable, please tell them about our need. Perhaps your work would donate. No donation is too small. Together we can reach our goal.
This LED lighting package will allow us to save a lot money on electricity… it will no longer “heat” the theater, making it uncomfortable for the patrons… it will allow us to do so much more technically and professionally with lighting our shows… it will make our theater more attractive and show friendly for rentals- also a money maker… and the list goes on.
And, this is a minimal package- enough to “light the stage” efficiently, effectively and safely.
Folks, I stink at asking for money. I hate it. But, after 6 years- now going into our 7th -I think we have proven ourselves to be a worthwhile and important part of the Arts community and I hope you will consider your donation to be more than worthwhile… and I feel confident this bad news will have a very positive and exciting result with your help.
