Life Coaching For Trauma Survivors

Donation protected
I am a licensed Master level Social Worker and currently work with elderly and disabled individuals who want to remain home, rather than go into a nursing home or other facility.  Until recently, I was also working part-time as a pizza delivery driver to help supplement my income.  However, my 12 year old daughter has been diagnosed with a heart problem, and I have left the part-time job to have more time to be available to my daughter.  She is still undergoing testing to determine whether the heart condition is benign or something that may require an ablation or a pace maker.

In 1983, I was diagnosed with DVTs (deep vein thrombosis) and PEs (pulmonary embolisms).  My mother and my mother's mother had both died from pulmonary embolisms at the ages of 29 and 25, respectively.  I was only 17 at the time of my initial diagnosis.  A doctor tried to talk me into going on disability at that time, and I refused.  I continued to try to work until 1996, when I realized the type of work I was able to do was not beneficial to my health (waitressing, factory work) due to numerous hospitalizations with new DVTs and PEs over the years.  I applied for, and received, full disability at that time.  However, I was not satisified with remaining on disability, so I completed my Bachelor's degree, and in 2007 I received my Master's degree in social work.

Having managed to get my degree, I was able to finally get off of disability and return back to the work force, doing a job that allowed me to telecommute when I needed.  I was married during this time and had the financial and emotional support from my husband.  I am now a single mother who receives little support from my ex-husband, and two jobs are needed to support myself and my children.  He does pay for the children's medical and school expenses, and we share custody of our 2 children.

While I have managed to become successful working as a social worker and have excelled working with my current clientele, my ultimate goal has always been to work with survivors of childhood sexual abuse or childhood traumas.

Since my daughter's health and my own health does not permit me to continue to work as a delivery driver at this time, I would like to start my life coaching business, focusing on individuals that have experienced traumas in their childhoods and are having difficulties becoming a success in their own life.

Many survivors of childhood traumas go through life experiencing self-blame, shame, guilt, low self-esteem, and do not believe they deserve to succeed.  Oftentimes, they engage in self-defeating behaviors, which limits their ability to maintain loving relationships and successful careers.  They believe they are not worthy of either.

Having, myself, been a survivor of severe childhood trauma, I have experienced the many setbacks and self-sabatoging patterns of behavior, but have learned how to overcome these patterns and become a success in my own life.  I feel my life experiences, overcoming many challenges throughout life, and my level of education and expertise has placed me in a unique position of being able to provide the therapeutic support these survivors need to become a champion in their own life.

When a survivor begins to see their own worth in the world, what they have to offer to those around them, the changes they can and will make in their lives is tremendous.

Please, help me to see my life long dream come true, to help others that have experienced what I have experienced to realize their past does not have to define their now, that the world is open to them to achieve greater heights than they ever imagined.

If you would like to read my story (my beginnings, as it were), my ebook is available on amazon.com.  https://www.amazon.com/Silent-Night-Nightmare-Brenda-Gravermoen-ebook/dp/B01KXU806W/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1486493401&sr=8-2&keywords=Brenda+Gravermoen

If I can overcome my beginnings to become a success in my life, others can too, with the right encouragement and therapeutic support.  Any monies donated will go towards the cost of certifcation as a Life Coach, which tuition costs $4,845.00.  Any monies received over that amount will help to supplement current income, while I am obtaining the certification.  I will maintain my current full-time job during this time, while I build up my life coaching clientele.
