Let's get the show on the road. CONFLICTED

When I moved to a small house by the sea, almost immediately after my eldest brother died, I thought I was on my own at long last. My first headache arrived with savage swiftness and when I awoke, I discovered the house was heaving with characters who looked very similar to me, and who wanted very many different things. Some were aggressive. Some had fallen asleep. We were everywhere, and we were restless. I was often lonely but rarely alone. Meet the Rusty Linguist (f), The Stoner, The Radio Junkie, The Stomach, The Retired Shoplifter, The Philosopher, and a host of other characters who eventually would not let me out of my own house for days on end......it was not my own house, of course. But that is another story. Outwardly, it looks a little self-indulgent but there are universal knots here we can only resolve with the scissors of laughter. They say to write about what you know best so I am writing about the gang who have been holding me to ransom by the sea. "They are all present and elbowing hard for room. Each one has an agenda. None of them, it seems, can help themselves.....But can they help each other?" ....... Part writer,  part actor, I have spent three years as a tour guide, and am now in search of a new audience.  I am currently writing  CONFLICTED ....a one-man, one -act comedy show about the many characters who dwell with(in) me, and who seldom agree on much. One of the greatest tests of our character is how we deal with loss and adversity.  For me, these trials have been a test for my multiple characters, each one determined to take control. I am, fortunately, still here to tell the tale, navigating many setbacks and addictive impulses as I go. I will most likely need a director, a musician and possibly a tour manager... CONFLICTED is humorous but does not shy away from difficult, taboo subjects such as psychiatric breakdown, grandiose delusions, and the wholly inappropriate response offered by our bedevilled health care system.  It should be fun too when these stubborn characters get stuck into each other in their new home on the Clare coast. Who will navigate the dark waters? The Stoner? The Gambler? The Player? The Saint? One of the quieter ones? Has the Mental Patient any voice? Can the Pacifist bring some harmony? Or will the Tour Guide get HIS nose in front once more?  This piece is my first foray into solo performance since I graduated from The Artemis School of Speech and Drama in 1999. This chaotic and colourful story needs to be told! And I did not use the word "journey" once :) What is the money for? Breathing space for the writer. A salary for a part-time director. Technical set up. Support is greatly appreciated. In exchange for your trust, you get heart and soul and giggles when they emerge.
