"Let's Soar - Art Summer Camp"

"Let's Soar - A Cool and Creative Summer Art Camp" would bring together teachers and students from  three different schools and 5 communities; Orr, Cook, Tower, the Bois Forte Vermilion and Nett Lake reservations to create a traveling winged mural.

This special two-day Art Camp would bring together three coordinating teachers to combine their creative energy and skills to teach and inspire art campers from the Northwoods Region.

Young people from 3rd to 12th grade would work together and independently, learning skills in shading, tinting and blending to create individual feathers and complete a collaborative design to form 2 large wings on a backdrop which can travel throughout the area.

The completed mural would be on display in the various participating communities: Cook City Library, NWFA Gallery, Bois Forte Reservation Heritage Center and Cultural Museum, Nett Lake Community Center, Tower Community Center, Orr Community Center and any other appropriate public spaces, where people of all ages can have their picture taken as they hold up a plaque identifying what makes them "soar."

We anticipate up to 45 Art Campers, three (3) art instructors, an adult assistant, 4 student mentors,  two community speakers to participate in the program.  Transportation and lunch is provided. Any additional donations will be used to fund the Summer Art Program, which includes 8 classes that are provided to the public for free.
