Leo's Story…
Leo is a two year old boy who is full of life and has incredible amounts of energy. The only thing bigger than the amount of energy Leo has is his heart. Leo is a big brother to his little sister Scarlett who will be one in February. He is a fearless, strong, loving little boy who could use some prayers and support.
On January 10, 2020, Leo's was admitted to Children's hospital of Philadelphia due to him urinating blood. Initial testing with ultrasound showed that Leo has two masses, one on each of his kidneys. Leo was diagnosed Wilms' tumor, which is a rare kidney cancer that primarily affects children. Also known as nephroblastoma, it's the most common cancer of the kidneys in children.
On January 12, 2020, Leo went for additional testing in the form of an MRI. The MRI showed that Leo has stage 5 cancer. Not only does he have tumors on both of his kidneys, but cancer has spread from his kidneys to his lungs and lymph-nodes.
Today, January 13, 2020, Leo will have a port inserted in his chest and begin his chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
As you can only imagine, Leo's family's worlds have been turned upside down with this news. Leo's parents Ryan and Nicole are determined to beat this cancer. As many of us couldn't imagine the pain and heartache these two are going through, they remain united and strong in the fight for their son's recovery.
Nicole and Ryan will be out of work indefinitely as Leo will remain at CHOP for at least six weeks while he undergoes treatment. We want to try and raise donations to help Leo's parents with the financial burden of this sudden diagnosis. We want to gift them with the ability to put all of their focus into getting their son Leo healthy and have financial peace of mind. Any little bit will help and be appreciated more than you will ever know.
Please send positive thoughts and prayers for Leo.
