FIRST LEGO LEAGUE - LEGO BUSTERS going to URUGUAY
Donation protected
The Lego Busters are a FIRST LEGO LEAGUE team affiliated with the non-profit group, Entech, since 2017.
In our second year in this league, we won the overall 1st place at the qualifier and overall 3rd place at the SC West State Championship. As a result we have accepted an invitation to go to the Plan Ceibal International Invitational in Uruguay, South America
THIS YEARS FLL THEME WAS: INTO ORBIT
WHAT WE DID THIS SEASON:
ROBOT:
Let us introduce our robot, MAX. He is built with LEGOS and an EV3 Mindstorm. We program him to complete missions on a game table. His special features include a moving arm, a light and touch sensor for accuracy.
PROJECT:
To address the problem of isolation, boredom and homesickness astronauts face during space travel, the team created a device called "Breath of Home". Using a VR headset astronauts watch videos from home. While viewing the videos "Breath of Home" will diffuse essential oils to activate the limbic lobe of the brain producing good emotions and moods. Astronauts then feel recharged for their jobs in space.
CORE VALUES:
During the season, we wanted to give back to our community and FLL, so we started a local FLL Jr team. We also supported a new team in CA by sending them Lego bricks. Finally, we had a chance to volunteer and build mission models for a local qualifier. The biggest lesson for us as a team was: Speak up! Listen!
We are so thrilled to go to this event and meet teams from 35 other nations and in the FLL spirit of gracious professionalism and Coopertition compete against worldwide top teams.
HOW YOU CAN HELP THE TEAM TO GO TO URUGUAY
The major expanses for this Invitational are the airfare tickets, accommodations and registration fees. We want to take the whole team and be able to cover all the costs. All the money raised will be used to cover these costs.
Thank you for investing in our team!
