Hello everyone,
My name is Heidi Holmes and I am 24 years young. In April I have worked at Wild Pitch Sports Bar in Frisco for 5 years (formerly 3rd Base aka "Third"). The whole time I have been at Third I have worked both full-time and gone to school full-time. I have my Associates in Arts from Richland College and this December I am graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor in Science for Integrative Studies with focus in Business, Sociology, and Learning Technologies along with a minor in Philosophy. It has been a beautiful but bumpy road along the way.
Last year I had originally planned to spend Spring Break visiting a friend in Europe. However, the opportunity has risen for me to backpack across Europe for almost a month. It seems things have fallen into place because my professors and Third have arranged to let me go embark on this journey of a lifetime.
That being said, this new experience is accompanied by unforseen costs. The money raised will help house and feed me while I am over there and help to pay bills here while I'm away. It is also in case of emergencies should any extra costs arise. This is going to be a learning experience that shapes me into the person I am intended to be (a better me). During this time, I will keep a daily blog so that you all can watch me grow, change, and aspire. I will be backpacking, living minimally, and staying in hostels with a friend(s). In addition to this, whoever donates will receive a personal "thank you" postcard from me from somewhere in Europe.
Should there be any money leftover, I plan on putting it towards school expenses or savings for a business I have in mind once I graduate. It will be healthy, happy, good for the planet, and good for people. That's all I can tell you, so rest assured all contributions go towards something greater.
So, please, donate what you can & share my story with your friends, family, and Facebook because without you all, it wouldn't be happening.
