Lion's Breath Diving - 2017 Drive

We are Lion's Breath Diving, a New York-based SCUBA academy focused on children and families. We offer a series of individual and family PADI programs for adventurers from ages 8 to 88 (or more!). We also offer after-school programs, summer camps, and weekend programs designed to get kids into and under the water in a fun and controlled environment.
We are among the only PADI dive centers that cater almost exclusively to young divers. As a result, many dive centers offer ancient SCUBA equipment that has been used for years prior to being demoted to the training rack. Given our focus on safety and the use of state-of-the-art equipment tailored for the youth diver, we are looking to acquire brand new equipment for our students. We are also looking to create a mobile SCUBA shop that can travel from school to school and pool to pool to provide outstanding individual, after-school, and camp programs without the cost associated with a brick-and-mortar storefront.
As we gear up to offer programs in the Summer of 2017, we are looking to upgrade our training equipment and create an efficient system for delivering our services throughout the tri-state area. To that end, LBD is hoping to raise $25,000 to purchase new ScubaPro, Atomic, and Zeagle equipment and a custom LBDmobile to get our team to students from from Pleasantville to Poughkeepsie and every place in between.
We will be using the money raised between now and May 15 to purchase state-of-the-art BCDs, regulators, pressure gauges, and other necessary safety equipment for use this Summer and for many years ahead. Additionally, we will be using the funds to acquire a trailer that will house all of the equipment LBD needs to bring to its students and school groups.
LBD's owner and lead instructor, Michael Simes, learned to dive at the age of 13. After almost thirty years of diving around the world, Michael still remembers those first moments of breathing underwater. The peace, independence, and excitement he felt in those first moments has stuck with him for decades. And the joy he experiences while exploring a world inaccessible to most drives him to bring these skills to kids and their families.
We are so thankful for the support we have received from friends and family. We have some outstanding reward levels for any additional contributions. From excellent LDB swag to PADI programs to (gasp!) a paid diving/sailing/yoga retreat in the Spanish Virgin Islands -- there's something for every donor.
