T
he Oregon Scottish Society is a 501(C)(3) community service organization that sponsors the annual Oregon Scottish Heritage Festival, and other cultural events such as the Robert Burns Dinner, a Scottish Tea, and the Sr. Andrews Dinner.   The Heritage Festival is a one day cultural event for families and youth with a goal of education about the influence of Celtic immigrants in the formation of our nation and our culture.   The theme of the festival is "Sharing the Story" and will include information on the contributions of Irish, Scottish, and Welch immigrants in the areas of science, literature, education, and technology.  It will include hands-on activities for the children, Celtic musicians, dancers, and pipebands.  The Event is schedule for Saturday April 9, 2016.  Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors, students, and veterans with ID,  and free for children 12 and under.  We are currently seeking additional funding for these family oriented community events.

Dear Lovers of high quality, family oriented cultural events. The Oregon Scottish Society is far from meeting it's funding goal for the 2016 Oregon Scottish Heritage Festival. We had hoped that achieving 501-C-3 non-profit status would improve donor support. That has not been the case. We have been in communication with a grant writer in hopes of receiving a cultural grant, but were informed that cultural organizations such as the Oregon Scottish Society rank low as priorities for donors and sources for grant funding, Membership dues and gate sales will not cover the expenses involved in hosting a festival. I am personally very uncomfortable requesting financial help from friends, but if the Oregon Scottish Heritage festival is to continue, extra sources of financial support are needed. Please consider a gift to help support an entertaining and informative cultural event. Thank you.

Great News! The Oregon Scottish Society has received confirmation of it's 501(C)(3) non-profit status. This means that donors who offer financial support for the Oregon Scottish Heritage Festival and other OSS projects can now receive tax credit for their donations.

The 2015 Oregon Scottish Heritage Festival featured such top name groups as the Gothard Sisters and Golden Bough. The 2016 festival promises to be just as entertaining as we plan to bring more such top notch entertainers to the event. Keep watch here for the latest announcements of who that will be. You won't be disappointed.

Do you enjoy supporting children's education and activities? Do you value these as worthy of financial support? Then consider a donation to help fund the 2016 Oregon Scottish Heritage Festival where children will enjoy educational and interactive demonstrations and displays on how Celtic culture has influenced the formation of our nation in areas of science, medicine, industry, fine arts, literature, music, and education. It's a worthy cause.
