Building my dream school- but I need your help!
Some of you I've spoken to only yesterday; others, its been quite a bit longer...
Three years ago, I started a school for my son, Uriyah. I wanted to create a place where every child's uniqueness would be nurtured and celebrated, where every child could develop a true passion for learning. The school, Lamplighters Yeshivah, has completely overtaken my life (just ask my family and friends) .... I work for its success all day, every day. I'm about to have my fourth child in a couple weeks (the second since starting the school) and I will literally be busy till my due date.... The work does not stop.
Lamplighters is serving a unique need in my Chassidic community ( www.LamplightersYeshivah.com). Truly- this school MUST BE SUCCESSFUL! And even though we've been through ups and downs, things are really progressing, thank Gd. Our school is going full-force Montessori under the guidance of new educational leaders, we're launching a training program this summer in Jewish-Montessori ( www.CAPDTraining.org - the first of its kind), we're renovating our new (rented) school space - and we hope to have 42 students next year (nearly four times what we opened with!)
I've already raised close to $40,000 but I MUST raise more. I need to raise funds ASAP to cover my building renovation (another $15,000), to buy new materials for the additional classrooms we're adding ($15,000), and pay for the summer training ($6,000). The brunt of the fundraising is on my shoulders and frankly, I need help.
I'm sending this out to 1000 people. If you each donate $36, I can reach my goal of $36,000. Of course, YOU CAN DONATE MORE!!
Truly, as they say, there is no gift that is too big or too small....
And please feel free to forward this to your friends and family!! This is an excellent opportunity to give charity and be part of a revolution in Jewish education- and help your friend out :)
(FYI- its tax deductible)
Thank you in advance...
Our school is embarking on an important fundraising initiative called Spreading Smiles, where we give out Shaloch Manos on Purim day to people who are so appreciative of receiving an extra visit on the holiday.
This Purim, we will distribute 55 packages to the elderly and 75 packages to children with special needs.
Our kids really look forward to this event. It has taught them the feel comfortable around people who are a bit 'different' than them and that Purim is about something beyond their own consumption. It's a special time where our school community comes together to do give to others in our neighborhood.
We ask people to sponsor this Mitzvah-Drive. This year, after we cover the costs of the food packages, the money we raise will go our very own Imagination Playground ( www.ImaginationPlayground.com). As you can see from the picture, our playground is pretty sparse. We currently have one mulched area and the rest is concrete. These big foam durable play pieces are perfect for the free-thinking, imaginative play our school encourages- and they are affordable. At $5,000, they are considerably more affordable than other playground options that would require us to cover the entire surface with rubber (about 45k).
So friends- help us out! Please donate what you can towards Spreading Smiles and our playground initiative.
Thank you in advance"¦ I appreciate your support through out all our endeavors"¦ Means so much.
