Some of the animals at Lakeland Animal Shelter might be labeled as "un-adoptable" in other facilities, but we hold a "Special Place" in our hearts for the "Special Needs" Adoptable Animals. And we think you might, too! Here at Lakeland Animal Shelter, there is no expiration date for the animals waiting for their second chances. We work hard to provide our animals with the extra love, care, time, and many other resources to help them overcome many different obstacles. Whether it be acute or chronic medical care, behavioral issues, special limitations, long term care, and many other "Special Needs" for a variety of "Special Animals" - We are there for them to help pull them through as they wait for Brighter Futures!
Considering the extensive commitments and dedication we give to all of our animals, including our very "Special Needs" animals, the need for community and public support is great and every dollar makes a difference in the lives of these animals. This unique Tax Deductable Fund-Raising Page has been designed in efforts to help raise some of the much needed funds to help some of our current "Special Needs" dogs such as Ned, Dibbles, Luke, & Cragen as well as "Special Needs" cats - Angela and Roger - just to name a few. In a time where funds can sometimes be short, please know that no penny will be wasted, and every cent will be greatly appreciated and put to good use. Our mission is to enrich the lives of both animals and people throughout our community.
Lakeland Animal Shelter Vision:
The Lakeland Animal Shelter hopes to help create a community where all lives are valued and respected. We envision achieving zero tolerance for ending the lives of savable pets in our community. All of our animals are treated with respect, kindness, and compassion throughout their stay with us- which can range for one week to more than a year in some cases! Each animal is an individual and given individual consideration, therefore we have no time limit on how long we house and care for each animal. Our practices are consistent with the belief that each and every animal in our care deserves a chance be adopted into a new home. This belief does not simply apply to those animals that are healthy and of acceptable temperament upon intake. Unless an animal is “too sick to be treated or too aggressive to be suitable for adoption,” we go to great lengths to rehabilitate the animals that we receive with high hopes of better futures for all!
We are committed to giving every adoptable animal "as long as it takes" in order to find the new home that they deserve!!! At this time we are reaching out to our supporters, community, friends, and fellow animal advocates for some additional monetary support for our "Special Needs" animals. Medical care, special diets, behavioral rehabilitation, as well as long term care can be costly and your Tax Deductable Support is always appreciated and never forgotten!
