Cockers Are Our Passion.
To "Save and Protect"
We know both the rewards and the heartbreak that rescuing an animal can bring. Each day brings joy, sorrow, frustration, disappointment and lots of gratification. Here at Las Vegas Cocker Rescue we are often faced with the sad reality of not being able to help some of the dogs that come our way simply because we don't have the funds available to pay for the surgery or vet expenses that are necessary to save them. We try our best. We try to use all of the resources available to us and still, at times , we come up short.
Biscuit recently came to us because her family couldn't provide the care that she needed. Sweet Biscuit not only lost an eye as a pup when she got to close to an unfriendly neighborhood cat, but she has a mammary tumor that needs to be removed and biopsied, numerous lipomas that need to be aspirated, and she needs extensive dental work.
Another foster had a ruptured anal tumor that had to be removed and biopsied.
Adorable Banjo wasn't feeling too chipper. Our Veterinarian checked his teeth...........no wonder he was so unhappy.................7 extractions later, he was smiling again.
All of these sweet dogs are on the road to physical recovery and are either looking for new homes or have found loving families. Any financial help from you combined with our volunteer's dedication and hard work can help provide the care necessary to relieve the pain that our Cocker rescues are feeling. Help us fix the pain in their bodies so that we can also fill the hole in their hearts and find them new loving homes.
They need us.
All OF US.
" Together We Can do Anything".
So what can we do? We do special events, fund raisers, garage sales, and Sundays at area Pet Stores where we set up a table with a donation bottle. In all of the activities we depend on You. You, who has a passion for your dogs. You, who doesn't want to see a sweet furry face with a broken hearted look or spirit. You can't bear to see them starved, lost or broken. You are the person who cares. We rely on you to volunteer to sit with us, work with us, and support us. We rely on your encouragement and yes, we have to rely on your financial help. We can not, I repeat, we can not do it without you. You wouldn't want us to have to pass on saving a dog because we didn't have the funds to pay their fee or their vet bills, nor would you find it acceptable if we didn't provide the care that each of our wonderful friends might need. We are here for the dogs, but we can only exist with your help. The year is about to end. The holiday season is upon and almost past us. Please help us to help our dogs. Please donate to Las Vegas Cocker Rescue through Go Fund Me. Any donation adds up to something larger. Your donations are tax deductible
Biscuit is currently residing comfortably in her foster's home. Thanks to help from the LVCR family she is healthy, but unfortunately she will never again see. Given her age, that she knows her way around her foster's home and is in love with their children LVCR has made the decision to not add additional trauma to her life. She will be allowed to finish out her years in the arms of a little girl who adores her.
While we have all been impressed by Biscuit's resilience, we have been equally touched by the sweet nature and desire to please of our Sweet Scarlet. At great expense she was treated for a mammary tumor that proved to be cancerous. It's believed that the Doctor got it all and that she will have many wonderful years ahead of her. A young couple, one of them also a cancer survivor fell in love with Scarlet. Scarlet moved into their home and is currently giving and receiving the love and support that they all need.
This brings us to Tank. Tank's previous life (before LVCR) while partly a mystery appears to have had many bumps. He was passed from one owner to another to only lose the second to death. The remaining family member did not have the desire to keep Tank so once again he was out of the house. Enter LVCR who found a home who adores him. He provides the love and companionship that families and children need. It sounds perfect, except for that little bump on his stomach. After only 3 months with his family the Vet discovered that he has spider cancer (a fast moving cancer). To make ends meet this family has been living with their Grandparents. Surgery costs are a hardship, but they want to give Tank every chance that they can and we all can relate to this. Tank has had one surgery so far and we are hoping that none will follow. Please help us defray some of those expenses for a family that is already struggling. We are still paying off Scarlet's surgery and need to help Tank. His adoring family can't do it alone and they don't want to even consider relinquishing him because of the expense. Please send even a small donation to help with expenses. Also share this on Facebook. The more people that have the opportunity to see this the better the chance we have of getting the help we so desperately need.
This is where Scarlett's story continues. Scarlett is much loved by all who meet her, but she has a mammary tumor. Of course, this only makes us love her more. Dogs after all are amazing. Does she complain or protest that she may feel uncomfortable. Never. You can't help but wonder if she even knows that it's there. Then again, maybe she does and that's what makes her such a loving girl........looking for love or reassurance. This weekend, as she was leaning in for a little extra love, it became apparent to her foster mom that her tumor had grown at an alarming rate. Could this possibly happen so fast? In a panicked call to our veterinarian her foster mom was able to get her April appointment moved to this week. Oh sweet Scarlett we love you. We don't want to let you down. We have to help you. You have so much love to give........
Please help us provide the care she needs. The smallest amount will help us. We are commented to helping her as I know you are.
It's funny how things go, isn't it? Two loving pups, (Biscuit & Scarlett) both with lots of love to give. Both asking for nothing other than a hand to pet them, a heart to love them and a little help along the way.
Since the eye pressure is better we can now go ahead and schedule her tumor surgery. Unfortunately we are still so far from our goal and will be struggling to acquire the resources to fund the procedure. You have all been so supportive and helpful, I am asking if I can lean on you once again for even $5.00. If we all pool are efforts we can do this. Remember when you enthusiastically saved every penny so you could buy yourself something new? Each penny brought you one step closer to your goal...was it for a 45? an eight track tape? a cassette? Cd? or ITunes card? I know you remember thinking you were almost there. You worked hard for those pennies; the same as you do today. Please help us provide the care Biscuit needs. Every penny, every dollar helps.
One last favor? If you could share this on your Facebook page so that your friends might consider helping you help us. Share the passion!! Love the Dog!!
