Kaitlyn's Family Travel Expenses

Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to hear Kaitlyn's story.

Background:
Kaitlyn was born in December of 2005. Even though she was born full term, issues started being noticed at approximately 5 months old when she wasn't meeting developmental goals. She started on several therapies to try to help her attain milestone goals, but was unable to achieve many of them. General diagnosises started coming in including Hydrocephalus w/ VP Shunt, Developmental Delay, Partial Agenisis of the Corpus Callosum, Epilepsy, Hypothyroidism, Hypopituitary Adrenal Insufficiency, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, Idiopathic Osteoporosis, Hypocalcemia and a few more but never a "This is what all this equals up to." Over the past 10 years, she has undergone 100s of surgeries of various nature. She is equatable to a 10yr old child with the developmental stages of a 6 month old.

This morning, January 28th, 2016, Kaitlyn underwent a surgery that ended up resulting in the complete removal of her intestinal tract. Due to the nature of this surgery and complications from it, she is being kept on a tube feeding system to keep her alive. She is being placed on a transplant list for a new intestinal tract as this is being typed. Currently, our understanding is that this procedure is only done in Washington DC and Nebraska and will require a lot of travel by the family to attend the various appointments needed for such a major procedure.  100% of the proceeds attained from this GoFundMe will go to meeting travel and lodging expenses incurred to make these trips as Kaitlyn has appropriate medical insurance to meet the medical expenses that will arise.

Kaitlyn's mother, Theresa, is a homemaker who's life revolves around taking care of Kaitlyn and her older sister. Her father, James, is retired from the Air Force and is taking time off from his job to be with the loves of his life during this important time.

We thank you for any and all donations received to assist the family through this heartbreaking time. We are not sure what the total expenses will be at this time, so we are starting with a generalized goal of $10,000 and will adjust the goal as needed.
