'A very special ongoing story & journey between two schools' Port School , Perth, Western Australia & Klang Special School, Malaysia

Klang Special School works with over 200 mentally handicapped children , young adults with learning diabilities and orphans in Klang, Malaysia. Sadly government funding is poor and does not focus on the schools students who need help the most. Funding does not even cover the basic running costs for staff and utilities. Over the years much of the funding needed has come from Apex in Australia & Malaysia as well as privately organised events and fundraisers. Port School works with 'at risk' students who dont fit into a mainstream environment and offer varied programs to its students with leadership elements to help them succeed and become better community citizens..
Five years ago a Port School Teacher, Mike Gilbert who is also an Apexian & Rotarian in Perth, Western Australia decided to try and make a difference for not only Port students, but for Klang students as well. Most of the Port students had never been overseas and what better way than to start a project that aimed to help another school in a different country. Over the last five years Port has raised over $30,000 to go towards kitchen and gardening equipment, educational toys, computers and printers and staff and utility costs.

Over that time Port has also visited local Orang Asli tribal villages and donated over 300 food hampers and  1000 toy koalas, kangaroos and Australian themed jigsaws to the children of those villages. This year Port have a 25 for 25 campaign. Port is celebrating 25 years this year and we have a massive,  target to raise money to sponsor 25 ORPHAN STUDENTS in 2019 to be able to attend Klang Special School for one year.  Get on board, raise $800 for one child for 1 year. Your family, your business, your organisation, your club or you as an individual can make a difference- please help make a change in the life of someone less fortunate. Contact Mike Gilbert and the Port Malaysia students on 9335 6323 or email (Tax Receipts can be offered)

We are trying to raise $20,000 to sposnsor 25 orphan students at a cost of $800 per student per year that include fees, food and uniforms.
Port students have already raised nearly $3,000 through sausage sizzles, donations and chocolate fundraisers.
This fundraiser is directly for Klang Special School. Port School, students and parents raise funds for their own excursion costs seperately to this. We need to get the funds by the end of the  year, to be able pay for their education in 2019

Klang Special School & Klang Apex Club have a special relationship with Port School, one that benefits everyone. Port students and Klang students would be blown away if you could help this years dream come true.
