I am starting this Go Fund Me page for Michelle Questell and her husband Giuseppe Varisco to help them with the costs of Giuseppe's kidney transplant and maintenance medications.  This is a great young family that would do anything for anyone, but will never ask for help when they need it.

Two years ago, Giuseppe (32) was diagnosed with severe kidney failure, which requires dialysis regularly, and he would need a transplant.  For the last two years, he has been taking dialysis daily.  He was not able to be placed on the transplant list until his medicare was activated.  Unfortunately, it took a long time to receive the approval.  Finally on June 1st they were able to meet the doctors at Tampa General to be placed on the transplant list.  Although they have been working with social workers in trying to get everything in line for this date, no one prepared them for what they were told.  They were told that they would have to have at least $10,000 within 6 months and $3000 within a month to even be able to move to the next step of being placed on the transplant list.  They were also told after the surgery they would need to pay approximately $1200 per month for addtional insurance and medication costs. This would be necessary for at least 1 year after the transplant.

In addtion to this difficult situation, thier young son, who is on the autisum spectrum, was recently diagnoised with type 1 diabetes and Celiac disease.

Because of Giuseppe's situation, Michelle has been the only one working for the last 2 years.  Although she has been able to maintain the household, these addtional cost will be impossible.

I hope that you can find it in yourself to give something to the deserving family during this difficult time.  I know whatever money rasied would be greatly appreciated and will help this young family move forward.

Since my last update, Giuseppe has contracted a bacterial infection brought on by the port for his dialysis. He now has a mid line through which he is receiving antibiotics three times a week for the next 6 months. He is no longer able to have dialysis at home and has to go to a dialysis center 3 times a week for 4 hours to receive treatment. Because of the infection, it will now be at least 9 months before Giuseppe can get a transplant. In the mean time, this family is having to pay several hundred dollars a month for supplies on top of trying to save money for his transplant. Michelle continues to work a full time job while trying to get Giuseppe to all his appts and dialysis. If you are considering donating on Giving Tuesday, please think of this family, they are truly deserving and appreciative of any help you can give them. Even if you are not able to give at this time, please share this post, to help us reach more people.

New update: Giuseppe has completed his testing for a transplant. Michelle will need to also complete this process. We are half way to our goal. Please help them get to $10,000 so they can schedule a date for the transplant. Please pass this along and help us get there!!
Thank you to everyone that has donated to Giuseppe. Just an update, instead of getting on the waiting list and waiting for a kidney, Giuseppe's wife Michelle is going to donate one of hers. Even with a donor in place, they cannot even begin to look at scheduling the operation until they have at least $10,000 in the bank. We are almost half way there. Please continue to share this post with everyone you can. Giuseppe and Michelle great appreciate anything you can do to help!!
