Keep a Roof Over Our Heads

I’m 29, divorced, and a mother above all other things. I spend much of my time and energy doing work for charity and have helped raise thousands of dollars for organizations like the American Cancer Society and in March, I shaved my head for St. Baldrick’s. I’m passionate about the causes I support and would drop everything to help a friend.

The past three years have been really rough. Between the car accident that left me with nerve damage in my neck and a herniated disc in my back, a severely sprained ankle that put me out of commission for six months, and now an as of yet undiagnosed neurological condition, I’ve been left without the ability to work steadily and maintain the income needed to keep a roof over my family’s head. The bank threatened foreclosure, but I was able to keep it at bay by paying a little here and there as I could and began the process of applying for a loan modification last November. After an arduous process of chasing down the correct documentation needed to fulfill the bank’s demands, they finally made a decision at the end of July to deny my request. Now I’m in real danger of losing my home that I’ve fought so hard for and only have 30 days to do it. The money from this would go towards covering the amount I’m behind on the house in order to keep a roof over my daughter’s head.
