Keenans Fund mecp2/children cancer

Donation protected

Thank you for looking at our page, we are a local family who have lived n Leicestershire all our lives .
We want to buy an holiday caravan for children with life limiting disorders and children with cancer.
This will offered to them at a nominal amount per night.
It is important  for children receiving treatment and their families to get the chance to get away even for a couple of days to have a recharge.
Sophie tynan a family friend sadly lost her battle with cancer at the age of 14. Keenan and Sophie have inspired the setting up of KEENANS fund.
Keenans fund is now a constituted small charity in its own right.
This is KEENANS battle so far X
When keenan was 14. Months old he developed

pneumonia and was admitted to hospital.
suffered a collapsed lung. He was transferred onto the children's intensive care. He remained for 6/7 days on life support when he was discharged he never progressed physically or mentally and even now at 16 he is only at 4+ level academic.
He suffered with numerous infections throughout his younger years.
We thought he had suffered some type of brain damage, imagine my shock at the end of 2014, when I found out he has a rare genetic disorder ..... MECP2

MECP2 ?? What's that ? This is a rare genetic disorder .. So rare it hasn't even got a name yet, my own GP had never heard of it.
there is no known cure, and nothing to stop of slow down the process of this degenitive disease
It has various health implications..
Autisim, epilepsy, learning difficulties, bowel problems, joint pain. ADHD,
expected to be wheel chair bound in later teens with a life span of 30 years.
with over half of these guys dying before 25,.
keenan has all these problems with a mental age of 5,
Keenan also suffers from brain atrophy. This is normally linked to dementia in older people.
Keenan also has a brain cyst.
Are we raising money for keenan.. No  we want to raise money to fund memories before our sons are no longer with us.
We would love to buy a holiday home, with all the special adaptions required for disabled children/ children with cancer.
