In 2009 Jessica was driving to church when her car was struck by a speeding driver. Her family was told she would not survive. Then they were told she would remain in a vegetative state. As you can see in the video Jessica did neither. Jessica suffers from a Traumatic Brain Injury. We not only fight for Jessica's recovery but for the advocacy of other TBI patients like her. (See full story @ www.journeyforjessica.com)We realized if we could get 500 people to donate $25 a month for a year, her expenses would be covered. But any donations are welcomed and appreciated. Your tax deductible contributions will cover yearly expenses for Jessica. Your donations will go towards the many needs Jessica requires which include the specialized protocol from the International Brain Research Foundation, medications, medical equipment, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, neuro therapy, hyperbaric therapy, aqua therapy, health aids and living expenses that afford Jessica to remain in her home with her family.Checks can be mailed to : IBRF/Journey For Jessica P.O. Box 18909 San Jose, CA 95158 Checks to be made out to IBRF with Jessica Huse in the memo portion of check.

Hi All,

Just want everyone to know how blessed we have been to have your support this past year. For some, many years....I can't express enough how much your help has made for Jessica and her chances of being able to progress. This past year Jessica has shown the ability to communicate outwardly her emotions more and test results only confirm what we believe to be seeing on the outside. Connections are being made. Although her improvements may seem small, they still remain to move forward and give us hope for continued progress in the years to come if we just keep fighting for her. Those tests also showed more progress in the last year of cognitive understanding than ever before.

Our goal for 2017 is to take Jess to New York for two months of intensive therapy that will include Stem Cell infusion, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation along with other advanced (outside the box) type of therapies not covered by insurance, but proven to offer benefit.
As usual we are never guaranteed a particular outcome, but the one thing we do guarantee her is a fighting chance. So thank you! We will be sure to video and document this journey to keep everyone updated and hopefully make a difference some day for all patients and families struggling with the life after a TBI.

See you in 2017!

Love,
Lisa Huse (Jessica's Mom)

Hi All,
I have had many people reach out to me regarding this site and recurring donations. Thank you so much for caring enough to do so. Gofundme states they have removed that option while working on the issues with that option site wide. If you would like to make a monthly donation but would like to request a reminder each month, please send us a message and we can help with that. We apologize for the inconvenience and will be looking into other options.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

Sincerely,
The Huse Family and
Journey for Jessica Team

Taken from Facebook Update

It is quite late here and I was honored and blessed to be invited to attend and speak at a fundraising event for the International Brain Research Foundation. In addition, I was able to tour a facility that is being built right now that will provide many therapies for all different types of brain disorders. If all goes as we hope we will be taking Jess here for Stem Cell therapy along with a multiple of procedures that you can’t find anywhere and if you find them, you can’t get them because often we don’t meet the criteria. I will update more on this as I get more info and in the mean time pray we can pull this off. Clearly requiring some miracles to happen as we would be staying here for up to two months, but I can’t allow myself to think this will be available and we can’t get her here to try it. Our motto is still “Whatever it takes”

While preparing my presentation for this event I realized that the news-clip I dug up was dated almost exactly 7 years ago from the day I arrived here. 7 years ago I promised I would not give up on her and try to make a difference for others. 7 years ago I had to endure the most horrifying and sad days of my life. Days where you just don’t think you can handle another minute. We saw the very ugliest of our medical system and many who work in it and we also saw the best in others who stood by us. It also was the first Thanksgiving (Jessica’s favorite meal) without my daughter as I knew her. I also had no clue that that would be the last holiday I spent with my brother who passed away this last Feb.

Not to mention being so afraid to leave Jess at that time and not knowing if at any minute she could pass and I wouldn’t be there. I had to witness the joy and excitement of others as they all gathered for the holiday and all I wanted to do was crawl in a hole and hope to wake up discovering that this nightmare wasn’t really happening. Thinking how can anyone smile right now let alone laugh. Like don’t you get it? I’m sure anyone who has lost someone close to them can relate to those irrational thoughts and emotions yet emotions that rip you to the core.

This also reminded me of how many people came out and supported us. They fed us, they prayed with us, they cried with us and complete strangers came to our rescue when we were so desperate for help. All who stood out on that lawn with me and fought for the life of my child. I can never forget that yet seeing it again I could only remember how blessed we were to have all of you. I completely realize that not everyone is so fortunate. So to all of you I thank you again and know that all of those signatures on that petition .... I still have. Not to mention each of you who have stood by us all of these years. So although holidays are never really very joyous anymore.... I definitely will be reflecting on all of you at my Thanksgiving table this year and each year moving forward.
Attached you will see my presentation I did tonight. Please keep in mind......I am NOT computer savy and thank God my son picks up his phone when his Mother calls him because I did it ALOT!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.

With Love and gratitude,

Lisa and Jess

Just a quick update. Thank you all so much for your kindness. Jessica has been doing well and has had many days this past week where she is starting to laugh more. She has also been having a lot of discomfort due to her tone (tightness of muscles). We are limited on what we can do to help her w that since all facilities I've tried have declined therapy that would be covered Under her insurance. So we are going to try acupuncture this week. Thank you so much for helping her not only make coherent progress but in our attempts to bring comfort to her physical body. I can't imagine how frustrated she must be when she can't tell us specifically where things hurt. She's been getting there though. She has been vocalizing discomfort and holding her back. So just praying I'm reading it correctly. Again thank you and thankful to those who have sacrificed for our freedom as I know there are many who have so much less. May we never take that for granted.
