In the following update on the
Legendary Blues Guitarist,
Johnny Twist and his
Johnny Twist Blues Museum, at this
time, are providing quotes from
several
publications of which the following
enthused writers are expressing their
experiences when they toured the
museum and are
speaking out, in writing, about the
Johnny Twist Blues Museum
on the scene here in the
Chicago area:

The first of the quotes and opinions
of the Johnny Twist Blues Museum
comes from Chicago University's
South Side Weekly newspaper by
writer, Sharon Lurye dated
October 9, 2013 where she says,

"On a storefront in Woodlawn there's
a faded, almost illegible green sign
that reads 'Old Dusty Records.'
Inside that store, there are probably
records.  Somewhere.  But when you
'Knock on the door, and the owner
let's
you in, what you'll step into is not so
much a record store as another
dimension.  There are racks of CDs
and videotapes, toy cars, children's
shows, necklaces, African Art,
Afrocentric books, a rice cooker, body
oils and soap, an iron, and an organ
piano and there are rows and rows of
framed black and white photographs
depicting blues legends like
Ma Rainey, Ike and Tina Turner,
Elmore James, and Hound Dog Taylor.
Visitors are greeted by a colorful sign:
"Hotep, Welcome to JTs old dusty,
Mississippi/Chicago Museum and
Culture Center of Afro-centric/
heritage and rhythmic urban, delta,
rocka boogie blues."
Plus Sharon said, "...What is
undoubtedly true is that,  right under
your nose, is an overlooked storefront
at 64th and Cottage, there stands
an utterly unique testament to one
of the greatest eras of music in
American History."

The 2nd Quote is regarding the
Johnny Twist Blues Museum out of
the Cook County Chronicle
newspaper
dated Wednesday, September 5, 2018
written by Igor Studenkov for
Chronicle Media, and he says,

"The word "museum" doesn't quite do
justice to what's inside.  The interiors
are arranged more akin to an antique
store or a used book store, with
objects
filling over a single surface.  Gig
posters,
newspaper and magazine clippings and
photographs line the walls.  The store
has artifacts such as photos of 1920s
blues musicians performing at
Maxwell Street Market:
autographed photos of famous blues
musicians, entire issues of newspapers
and magazines and vintage guitars and
expensive records.  Some of the items
are unexpected, such as a model train
model of the 43rd Street commercial
district, complete with the model 'L'
train above the building.  Rows upon
rows of CDs and cassette tapes are
stacked alongside the artifacts.  There
is an entire section filled with books by
African-American authors, and
records
line the walls and are stacked in
boxes."

Igor also quoted,

"Blues guitarist Johnny Twist is Happy
to show visitors around his museum
and share hiis decades of knowledge..."

The next quote is out of
Black Pages International serving the
Chicago area written by its publisher,
Eugene Dillanado dated Chicago, 2019
saying,

"...Johnny Twist.

The legendary guitarist and
Rocka Boogie Blues artist's Blues
Museum located in the Woodlawn
area
of Chicago has been classified with
four
and a half stars credit to enlighten and
educate you on our great blues
heritage,
and the stories of great blues artists
that
must be told with truth and facts
curated
by the guitar blues legend himself,
Johnny Twist.

You will have the chance to view the
Great Muddy Water's Blues Room and
his phenomenal recording,
"Got My Mojo Working" on Chess
Records along with pictorials and the
many stories about him.

Sunny Boy Williams, the 2nd, when he
was blowing his great blues harmonica
licks on King Biscuit Radio Time down
in Helena, Arkansas, is in the museum
along with John Lee Hooker of
Clarksdale, Mississippi 61 Highway
have
pictorials and stories in the museum.
Aretha Franklin Soul-Jazz-Blues Room is in the museum as well as the
tantalizing
Tina Turner of Nutbush, Tennessee
showing her fantastic legs for you!
Johnny Twist and Ike Turner were
close friends and great guitar players
in
St. Louis.

The.Johnny Twist Museum features
the great Bob Marley,
Jamaican Raggae
musician including his bass man,
Bunny Wailee, and their fellow
Rastafari pioneer, Peter Tosh...

Black Pages International salutes
Johnny Twist for building a
Dynasty 2019 - 2032..."

In a quote dated May 17, 2018
within Chicago Tribune's Redeye
newspaper issue, writer and
scholar, Eve Ewing says, and
we quote:

"...I was in the back seat kind of
looking out of Nate's car, and then
I was like,  Stop the car!
Turn Around!  "I mean Nate and I
have the kind of friendship where
he's like, fine, I don't need any
additional information."  I was like
"Go back, go back!"  I saw the sign
that says,
Chicago Delta Blues Museum
and when you see it, you'll see why I
was
like, " you need to stop the car."

We went inside and had this amazing
conversation with the owner,
Johnny Twist, who was actually a blues
musician from back in the day and
who's
taken it upon himself to construct his
museum in this store front on the
South Side.

Somebody needs to interview him
about all the photos and do some
sort of history project, because we
need to keep that.

I think a lot of the knowledge that
Johnny twist has is the culture of the
city, and this is our history, it's Chicago
history, it's Black History, it's
American history.  The blues is such an
important part of our heritage and our
legacy and this is a person that is a
living
kind of folk historian who is actually
telling the stories of the things that he
experienced in his real life, and is
keeping the stories and the legacies
of those people that are gone from us.
I got love for Johnny Twist.  That place
is so amazing to me.  I totally
discovered
it by happenstance."

A Special Edition by the
University of Chicago's South Side
Weekly newspaper dated
September 18, 2019
written by Erica Mosley states in the
following quote:

"BEST PLACE TO GET THE
WAA WAA WAA BLUES

Johnny Twist Blues Museum

One of the best places to spend $5 in
Woodlawn has to be at
our own museum
of all things related to
the black musical
genre, the blues.  But at the
Johnny Twist Blues Museum, your $5
will get you much more than a
chronology of the blues and an
introduction to blues greats around
the world.  You'll spend most of your
time learning about
a living blues legend
whom you may not have heard much
about before:  Mr. Johnny Twist. Yes,
Johnny Twist is the owner of the
Johnny Twist Blues Museum, and he
boasts of jazz enthusiasts visiting his
museum from cities around the world.
Twist's contribution to music is his
brand of high-energy blues,
Rocka Boogie Blues.  Twist who hails
from Mississippi, has visited more
than
forty states during his career,
originally
playing the piano before moving on to
the bass guitar and ultimately the
electric guitar.  His contemporaries,
whom you'll see in many of the photos
that he's collected throughout the
years,
include Johnny Nighthawk , Ike Turner,
Koko Taylor, Chuck Berry, and
Chicago's
own Buddy Guy.  Those photos, along
with newspaper clippings, concert
pluggers (show flyers) , and tickets,
cover the museum from floor to
ceiling and along the decorative
displays
and walls.  The museum even includes a
recording studio and a slew of musical
DVDs, CDs, and books for sale.
Johnny Twist plans to release a double
CD with his own cuts by the end of the
year, so get ready to secure your own
copy from Woodlawn's local
(yet renowned) blues royalty.
(Erica Mosley)..."

The double CD that Erica Mosley, just
spoke of, by Johnny Twist, is on hold
because of the COVID-19
virus pandemic, will be on
schedule
to be released later on this year 2021,
or early next spring, 2022.

Johnny Twist Blues Museum is located in
 the Woodlawn area at
6455 S. Cottage Grove Ave.
