Support for John Ussery's Family

Monday, May 16, 2017, John Ussery lost his life while saving another.

John and co-worker Jason DeLon were working in West Palm Beach when DeLon entered the waters and was pulled out by the rip current.

With no hesistation, John went in after DeLon to help. Unfortunately, John was pulled out himself.

John and DeLon were 50-75 yards from the shore when beach patrols showed up to rescue the two.

John told DeLon they had to let go of each other if they were going to stand a chance. DeLon moved out of the rip current while John continued his battle.

Beach patrols tried to throw John a buoy but the swells were too large to reach him.

The patrols eventually got to him and brought him to shore.

DeLon made it to the shore, and was taken to the hospital, reporting to be in stable condition.

John's body was at complete exhaustion when he told the patrols, “Thank goodness you made it, I didn’t have any strength left.”

John then became unresponsive while on the beach and the team could not revive him.

At 5:48 pm, John Andrew Ussery was pronounced dead.

John rescued his co-worker that Monday evening, leaving as a true hero.

John Ussery was a 51-year-old father, husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin, a true friend.

John's son, Gabriel, is 25 and lives in Lake Mary with his mother, Jung Hau.

More than ever, Gabriel and Jung Hau need the community's help.

Jung Hau is originally from Korea, and only speaks Korean. It speaks levels of John's character to explain the relationship he had with Jung Hau. He learend Korean just for her.

John's heroic passing unfortunately leaves Gabe and Jung Hau at a disadvantage. Jung Hau faces the language barrier when looking for help and Gabe now struggles to support the two.

John will forever be known for his kind, courageous spirit. His once crazy, long blonde locks of fun, his deep booming laugh, and his ability to bring light into any room he entered.

John was the most giving person. And I guess it would only be right that he went out of this world scarificing his life for another person.

Because that's just who he was.

Please consider donating to the Ussery family. As anyone could imagine, Gabe and Jung Hau are incredibly heartbroken.

Any amount, any kind gesture, any donation will indefinitely make a difference in Gabe and Jung Hau's life.

Help us celebrate the life of John Ussery.
