Hi Everyone,
My name is Jessica Conrad and I'm reaching out to you because I’ve started a GoFundMe for my/our beloved friend Joanna Bigelow, and her 2nd fight against cancer. Joanna is a 37 year old beautiful soul! A generous, witty and loving friend, daughter, sister, aunt, and bad ass realtor. She is happily married to Keith Bigelow, and a proud and loving mother of her 2 amazing children (Alyssa 18) and (Jayden 15). Alyssa is a freshman in college and Jayden is a sophomore in High School. Joanna spends most her time with her family enjoying dinner together, or spending a Sunday out and about with them. Joanna is the type of person that has a strong joy for life, makes the best out of every single situation and would capture you’re friendship with her open heart and hilarious sense of humor.
A few months ago Joanna had what seemed to be your common cold, with a lingering cough, but this cough has persisted for the last 5 months. Joanna got medication for a cold, a cough, for allergies and for acid reflux in which nothing made her cough go away. She insisted she get an x-ray of her chest, and within the day they had informed her that she had a mass in her left upper lobe of her lungs. Within the following week she was diagnosed with cancer for the 2nd time.
A 10 year survivor of cervical cancer, you can only imagine the pain she must of felt hearing that she has cancer once again. Never a smoker in her life, a healthy young woman now having to battle stage 3 lung cancer is a very unfair situation, to say the least. Having endured chemo and radiation the first time she had cancer, and remembering the hard effects it had on her body, is a terrifying reality to face. She deserves all the tools, resources and treatments she needs to beat this, and god-willing, cure it for good. The plan with her oncologist is 6 rounds of chemo 3 weeks apart then surgery to remove her left upper lobe. After she recovers from surgery, most likely she will receive more rounds of chemo as well as radiation. During this time she is also doing alternative medicine treatments along with supplements.
Where The Money Will Go
All the funds we raise for Joanna will go directly to her and her family. The money will be spent towards chemo, radiation, medicines, doctors visits, (within the last 2 weeks she has already been 18 times). As she will be fighting this battle, the money will also help her pay some bills and her mortgage as she may be out of work for quite some time and Keith also needs to take time off of work to care for her. Last thing she needs is to add stress worrying how bills are going to get paid.
Im sure most of us know someone who has either battled cancer, or passed away from cancer, and we all know the pain it causes the patient, and ones family and friends. I hope you would please take a couple minutes and put yourself into her shoes and consider donating to help her, and her family fight this long battle.
