Jim's 10th Solo Tour de France Replica
Dear Friends,
Thanks for your interest! Starting July 5th, I'm attempting my 10th Solo Replica of the entire Tour De France. I plan to complete this year's Tour in 19 days (vs. 23 for the real Tour De France).
At age 53, this year represents my Capstone Tour. I plan to make it my most ambitious, riding 10 X 200-mile Stages, in just 19 days, across a wide swath of So Cal. All these Stages are Monsters, averaging about 15,000 ft of climbing (Big Bear Stage has 20,000 ft!), all in the blazing July heat. I'll ride all the distance of the real Tour De France (2,272 miles), but with much, much, more climbing elevation than what the pro's ride in France.
As you may know, I produce cycling events in So Cal. This year, I wish to use my own Solo Shadow Tour to raise funds for our Fantastic & Most Loyal Volunteers & Non-profit's, including: The Imperial Valley Desert Museum, The Shelter Valley Citizen's Corporation, the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, The Breast Cancer Fund, the Desert Mirage High School ASB, among others.
I've self-funded all 9 previous (and successful) Solo Shadow Tours. This year, I'm asking for your Donation Support to offset expenses, and to benefit the Outstanding Volunteers who have supported riders for the past 10 years at 26 Shadow Tour century events.
I"ll donate 50% of net funds raised to the Volunteer entities!
Please feel free to contact me with questions, or to suggest ways to expand this fund-raiser's reach. During the Solo Tour, my brain gets foggy, but I'll do my best to respond to all your contacts.
Here's a link to my contemporaneous round-up reports for each 200-mile Stage: Jim's Daily Blogs.
Many Thanks & Tailwinds!
~Rider Jim
