Jim Duke Legacy Fund: Scholarships for students to study in the Amazon Jungle of Peru
Jim Duke has touched so many of our lives with his dedication to learning and teaching about medicinal plants.
He has always invited us “listen to what the plants are telling us” in the form of chemistry, medicine, and spirit.
Let's keep that legacy going for the continued evolution of safe medicine, public health and conservation of natural ecosystems.
Funds collected with this campaign will go to establishing a formal scholarship at the University of Maryland in the Department of Plant Sciences. The scholarships will support students who wish to take the Medicinal Plants of the Peruvian Amazon class that Jim and I have taught for the past 20 years.
The January 2019 class has two students who could use aid to attend.
Any 2018 funds collected will likely go to that specific objective before the broader scholarships are formally established at UMD in 2019.
