JARET'S NHL DREAM

HELP SEND JARET, 2015 CANADA WINTER GAMES MEN'S HOCKEY SILVER MEDALIST, TO ADVANCED HOCKEY TRAINING THIS SUMMER #JaretsNHLDream

THE STORY

As a way to pacify their feisty two-month old, his Moms sat Jaret Anderson Dolan in front of the television.  Hockey Night in Canada was on and, for the full three periods of the game, Jaret was transfixed. Then, at two years old, Jaret picked up his first hockey stick and started playing. This cemented his passion for the game and now in Jaret’s own words, "Hockey is everything I live for!”

At age 14, Jaret was named the 2014 Minor Hockey Player of the Year, becoming the first Albertan to win the award.

Jaret was drafted in the 2014 Bantam Draft, First Round – 14th overall pick by the Spokane Chiefs. He will vie to become an official member of the Spokane Chiefs for the 2015/16 Western Hockey League (WHL) Season, but was called up early for a 10-day stint in November 2014 and just recently to support the Chiefs playoff aspirations.

Most recently, as the Assistant Captain of Team Alberta at The Canada Winter Games in February 2015, Jaret, aged 15, contributed to his team's victory in winning the Silver Medal in Men’s Hockey. Jaret scored four goals, and had three assists in six games.

“Jaret Anderson-Dolan’s two goals helped Alberta book their spot in the semifinals with a 6-1 win over New Brunswick.” (Canada Winter Games News Release – February 27, 2015)

Known as JAD to his teammates, Jaret’s dream is to one day play in the NHL. He is no stranger to hard work and his commitment to the game is absolute. His motivation to keep improving his hockey skills is as natural to him as breathing.

Jaret is scheduled to attend the Spokane Chiefs' training camp this August. To realize his dreams of NHL glory, he first needs to secure a spot on the Spokane Chiefs WHL roster.

Step one for Jaret is attending an intensive, advanced hockey training camp in Kelowna, British Columbia.   The camp offers a full-time training schedule this spring and summer, and will prepare Jaret for the Chiefs’ training camp in August.

Jaret is not alone in his dream. His family believes so strongly in his ability to succeed, they have provided unfailing financial support, tapped into savings and borrowed against their home. But stepping into a professional hockey life doesn’t come cheaply and the escalating cost for Jaret’s hockey training and education has exceeded his family’s financial means.

THE PLAN

We are reaching out to ask you to consider supporting Jaret by helping us raise funds to send him to Kelowna and preparing him for the Spokane Chiefs in August.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 or more to pay for Jaret’s tuition, travel and living expenses at the hockey school.

You can help support Jaret by donating any amount you are comfortable with. As a guide, $25 will provide a day’s worth of power snacks, $50 will provide a day’s worth of meals, $112, $224, $672 or $1,120 will provide half, 1, 3 or 5 days' training respectively.

Any gift you choose to contribute will make a tremendous difference and is deeply appreciated.

Please join the family - Team JAD - by kindly making a donation.

Along with the monetary support, we believe this fundraising campaign will give Jaret added emotional and moral support. After all, what can be more inspiring for this young man than to know hundreds of people are rallying for him and rooting for his success?

Here’s what others have to say about Jaret:

"Jaret is a true student of the game ‎, his attention to detail and habits as a player separate him from his peer group,” said Wade Klippenstein, Director of Scouting for the Brandon Wheat Kings.

“Each time I watched Jaret play; he displayed exceptional skill, intelligence and speed. He was creative and was able to consistently finish in the net area.” added Garry Pochipinski, Director of Scouting for the Victoria Royals.

Jaret’s Head Coach of the last two seasons, Ross McCain, concluded, “Off ice, Jaret has a great ability to create cohesion within a group. One example will always resonate with me. Jaret was leading a stretch in a hotel after one of our games and two members of the team chose to do their own stretch rather than work with the group. Despite much coercing from the group, the two members stuck together, separate from the team throughout the whole stretch. After the next morning’s game, the boys were doing another cool down stretch in the hotel. This time, Jaret had the two members, who wouldn’t join the team the previous time, lead the stretch. For a player this age, this was very impressive reasoning, patience and resolve all in the name of camaraderie.”
