Help Jackson Get to Nationals!

 Jackson Catron, an 8th grade student a Belle Chasse Middle School was selected to compete in the special talents division at the Jr Beta Convention held at the Cajun Dome in Lafayette, La. Jackson is a 5 year member of Layaya (Louisiana Young Authors and Young Artists) where is studies acting, musical theater and vocals. Jackson is also in the BCMS gifted music program where he is studying guitar as well as a Beta Club member. Middle school students from every parish in the state of Louisiana were among the more than 14,000 people present at the competition at the Jr Beta Convention. Jackson selected the song Hallelujah to showcase his vocal talents in the Special Talents portion of the competition which brought over 14,000 youth to their feet in a standing ovation during his performance. Jackson won first place in the Special Talents division and will go on to represent the entire state of Louisiana at the National Convention held in Savanah Georgia June 13-16. LAYAYA and Jackson’s Mother, Danell Cook Catron have started a community fund drive to assist with the expenses associated with his travels to compete at the national convention. Jackson would like for everyone to know that he is very proud and excited to represent our great state of Louisiana and is especially honored to be the first Plaquemines Parish Beta member to compete at a national level in this division the 84 year history of Beta.
