Jack Watson Memorial Scholarship
Rick has a special incentive for those supporting the scholarship fund in Jack’s name. Everyone who makes a gift before October 1 will be put in a drawing for Jack’s tickets to the University of Oregon vs. University of Washington football game on Oct. 18. (Yes, if you’ve already donated, you are in!) Every gift matters and will help fund scholarships for the University of Oregon Theatre Arts Department's biennial London trip. Even if you can’t attend the game, you must know someone who would love to go! Please pass the word and make your donation now!
If your gift can be eligible for an employer match, you can give directly to the University of Oregon Theatre Arts Department in Jack's name and it will go to this fund. Use the "Gift Instructions" box if giving online.
We will adjust the goal as gifts come in to the University and report here and on FB.
When we reach our goal, the fund should provide a $1,500 to $2,000 scholarship for each trip. (This takes the modest processing fees into account for the final fund, which we hope will be $25,000.)
If you haven't joined our Facebook group, Team Jack and Rick yet, please do and share your memories of Jack. https://www.facebook.com/groups/TeamJackWatson
Since GoFundMe does charge an administrative fee, the Foundation is waiving their usual administrative fee on the contributions we transfer from GoFundMe.
We will also provide a list of all who donated via our page to the University, so that you will be recognized as a donor to the fund. We do need to remind you that contributions made through GoFundMe are NOT tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Any contributions made through the new UO Foundation fund are.
This fund is available to receive gifts now and the direct link to the UO Foundation is: https://securelb.imodules.com/s/1540/foundation/2col.aspx?sid=1540&gid=1&pgid=408&bledit=1&dids=1557.
We have been told that the department is creating a new QRCode and will push the giving link through the department’s social media platforms.
The Theater Department will put a giving button on their department website to try to raise more funds. The department and UO Foundation are also working on an appeal to alumni who studied with Jack around the theater reunion this spring. With these efforts they hope to get the fund to endowment level soon.
Again, thank you for participating. And please help us keep the word circulating so that more of those who loved Jack can be part of this wonderful legacy.

The #nightoutwithjack Challenge!
I have been touched by the memories - and tributes to Jack - on this site. Here's hoping we can all put our money where our mouth is... I have a challenge for the Jack Watson Memorial Scholarship Fund and all of you who are part of this community.
There are more than 300 people on this team. If we each donate $10, that's $3000. What if we came up with $20? I know... Money is tight, but we all go out at some point. Dinner? A movie? Wine tasting? Tailgating?
So here's my challenge... A night out for Jack.
Whatever you spend, you donate that amount too. Don't have that?!? Plan the night out without actually going and donate the projected amount. It's a sacrifice, but can't we all give back just a little?
We have these amazing memories. Jack touched each of our lives. Here's a chance to pay it forward- let him touch more lives...
Key dates to celebrate:
November 27: Thanksgiving
November 29: The Civil War, UO vs OSU
December 5: Jack’s Birthday
Plan, celebrate, donate-Let's do this!!!
Post a picture from your night out – print your favorite photo of Jack and include him – with #nightoutwithjack
To sweeten the deal, I will donate a dollar for everyone who participates and posts a #nighthouwithjack photo, up to the number of members in our group!
Post your photo here and then make a donation here: http://www.gofundme.com/JackWatson
Share this with others whose lives Jack touched! Please send a Facebook message or email to others who are part of this group, in case they don’t get the page update in their FB feed!
Thanks! Go, Ducks! Go, Jack!
