Rochester Gun Shot Victim Fund

Hello,My name is JaMario. On August 29, 2017 at 8:48pm I was wan innocent victim to a shooting right outside my apartment complex. The shooting occurred as I came outside my home to greet my 14 year old babysitter who agreed to watch my children while I worked the following day. Unfortunately, my babysitter and her mother - who had come to drop her off - were also caught in the crossfire of the shooting. It was determined that a disgruntled neighbor who had moved into the complex earlier this year unloaded, what the police determined, about 20 shots directed at me and the vehicle my babysitter and her mom arrived in.

Fortunately, neither the babysitter or her mom were injured in the shooting; their car however was riddled with bullets from the 9mm handgun the assailant used. As for myself, I was immediately hit by the first set of rounds with one of the bullets entering the center mast of my chest, about 2cm away from my heart, lodging directly behind my sternum.

It is by God's grace that the bullet did not pierce my heart or I would not be alive today. The ER surgeon who managed my care in the ICU determined through multiple CAT scans that to surgically remove the bullet would be a risky procedure and it would be best to allow the bullet to remain in my chest as it is not directly affecting the proper functioning of my heart. Recovery from this traumatic event will require an extensive amount of physical therapy.

I have accrued a significant amount in medical bills related to this heinous attempt on my life. I have medical insurance through my employer but medical insurance alone will only cover a portion of the bills I have accrued. I am a single father of two children - a boy (11) and a girl (7) - who mean the world to me. I am their sole provider. I am determined to recuperate so that I may be here for them as long as God allows.

It will take months if not years to physically and mentally rehabilitate from this act of violence that I experienced in August 29th. With your donation, I will be able to begin the process of full rehabilitation and pay for medical care during this long arduous process.
