Jenn's Degree & Research in Italy

In 2006 I visited the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris, due to a study abroad opporutunity entitled: The Evolution and Revolution of Public Opinion as a part of the University of Washington, and it was at that time that I told myself while reflecting upon a magnificient African scuplture in their lobby that one day I would work for or perhaps be affiliated with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. However, I did not realize that dream would take 10 years to come to fruition.

With that said, I am humbled to say that I have been afforded the opportunity to study and obtain my Master's in “World Heritage and Cultural Projects for Development”, jointly organized by the “Università di Torino” , the “Politecnico di Torino ” and the International Training Centre of ILO (hereinafter called ITCILO) , in collaboration with UNESCO World Heritage Centre  and ICCROM , due to the fact of being accepted by the Master's Scientific Committee.

It’s amazing how things are falling into place and THIS aligns perfectly with the project I was recently granted to work on with the Water Resources Research and Documentation Center (WARREDOC) , UNESCO World Water Assessment Programme (WWAP)  and Università per Stranieri di Perugia . As some of you now know, I have been selected to produce digital maps and story maps of UNESCO natural & cultural heritage sites with the use of GIS technology and geospatial data. With that said, I have chosen to MAP the "Monumental Earthworks of Poverty Point and the System of Bayous (Bayou Maҫon & Bayou Bartholomew ) that support this Land Formation”.

Now comes the hard part, financing ALL of THIS!

With your donation (no matter how small) you can assist me in my endeavors along with my dreams of greatly enhancing my professional career.

In less than two weeks I will be accompanying my parents on a 3,000+ mile road trip across the contiential US and whilst they attend our family reuion, I will be busying myself by collecting data in Arkansas & Lousiana for the above mentioned field research.

My ultimate goal within this project is to have Bayou Bartholomew recognized by UNESCO as a natural World Heritage Site, given that it's the longest bayou in the world along with its crucial impact on the civilizations it has supported over the course of time.

I suppose I have a profound fondness for it, since it flows along my families property in Arkansas...wish me luck❣

I received my bachelors in American Ethnic Studies from the University of Washington; which is ranked among the worlds top 20 schools. Over all, UW came in at 11th (in the world) and then 13th among U.S. schools. UW also ranked fourth among worldwide public institutions. In addition, I successfully scored a Band III on the Cambridge TKT exam.
