Janesville Police K9

Donation protected

The Janesville Police Department needs YOUR help!! K9 Hardy is retiring this fall after 9 years of faithful service. Since the work life of a police K9 is unpredictable, monies are not budgeted for the initial purchase and are paid for through donations and fundraisers. The two JPD K9s provide service for Janesville, but they also respond to all areas of Rock County including the cities of Beloit, Milton, Edgerton, and Evansville when requested. Their uses include criminal apprehension, tracking of suspects and vulnerable lost people, and drug detection. Both dogs also help the school districts in Rock County to keep drugs, including heroin, out of our schools.

Please consider contributing to this worthwhile and beneficial tool that keeps our community and officers safe. Donors reaching the level of $500 (Bronze), $1,000 (Silver), or $1,500+ (Gold) will have their names placed on a commemorative plaque to be displayed in the Janesville Police Department Lobby.  The initial cost of a K9 is $16,000 including training and start-up costs. If additional funds are raised, both dogs could use larger, specially designed vehicles at a cost of $27,000 a piece for a total cost of $54,000. Any business desiring to make a corporate donation may contact Sgt. Dean Sukus at the Janesville Police Department.
