LAGOON: A Documentary Film

Donation protected

When progress, profit and Mother nature collide to form the "perfect storm," the Indian River Lagoon becomes the centerpiece of an issue that will definitively affect many generations to come. This is not a matter of when, as it's happening right now. And, it's certainly not a matter of "should we" get involved. We must. Not tomorrow, but today. This is a critical moment in the life of our Lagoon, and it will take the use of multimedia, cinematography, advocates, organizations and people like you to raise awareness of the plight and peril of our precious Indian River Lagoon. (This documentary will be (60) to (80) minutes in length with cinema camera format, original music score and entered into Film Festivals internationally, as well as being distributed to over (70) Eco and Environmental groups worldwide) 2015.

Spanning 156 miles, nearly 40% of Florida's east coast, the Lagoon is an almost perfect design from Mother Nature. Having a parallel mixture of the Temperate and Tropical climates, it's the most diverse estuary in North America. Such a perfect balance and harmony becomes an accessible target of man's hunger for progress and profit. From 2009 to 2012 alone, in the Lagoon's short lifespan from creation, over 60% of all seagrass has been lost. The Lagoon's impact economically to Florida cannot be underestimated. The Lagoon's boost to Florida can be measured in its 3.7 billion dollars of generated value, an estimated 15,000 jobs and an annual recreational outlet for 11 million visitors per year. Coupled with these economic realities, thousands of species of mammals, reptiles, fish, aquatic and marine life and plants rely on the Lagoon for their very survival, but in recent years, that survivability percentage is drastically declining. This can change, but education, planning and action must be a cooperative effort for all those that contribute to the Lagoon's continuing demise through so called "progress and profitability." We must resolve to this change and volunteer for this "call to arms."

This film will test and push the boundaries of facts, history, rich cinematography and enlightened guest & expert interviews to bring forth a collective effort and spirit unlike any documentary before. Our film will be given to the masses as a perpetual educational tool that will speak for Mother Nature and her Indian River Lagoon, as she cannot speak. It will become a universal effort to bring forth an understanding of the critical and imperiled collection of species that rely on the Lagoon as their protective havens for birth, life and sustainable futures that must be protected now. No documentary before has been done on our Lagoon in this way, and its potential reach will be an immeasurable asset to its future. We are not speaking in terms of decades anymore. The critical nature and current condition of the Lagoon demands action within years, if not today. To do otherwise would seal the fate of the Indian River Lagoon. And, it would be by our hands alone with non action, that she shall perish never to return again.

"I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority." ~ Elwyn Brooks White

Join us on this adventure as we uncover the truth behind the Lagoon's creation, its present condition and its threatened extinction in just one lifetime. Our lifetime. Become a supporter of this most worthy endeavor and cherish being part of a movie and documentary that uses the enrichment of cinematography and modern multimedia to affect "real change."

Help us save, your "Indian River Lagoon."
