India McCary Accepted to Harvard Summer School

Greetings!
I am India McCary a junior at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS) and a dual enrolled student at FAMU. I am the Royal Court’s Junior Attendant, Junior Class President, and a violist. I have also been active in various programs such as the Upward Bound Math Science Program, Youth Leadership Tallahassee and Alpha Kappa Alpha Pearls of Perfection. I am an active member of Engage Church. Although I enjoy these pursuits, I maintain focus on my scholarship, and have a 3.8 grade point average. My academic and musical pursuits have allowed me to participate in summer programs at Interlochen Center for the Arts, Oberlin College and at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London England. It is my desire to become an attorney.
I am excited to announce that I was invited to participate in the highly competitive Harvard University Secondary School Program. This program allows high school students to experience college courses as a Harvard college student. Many of Harvard’s courses are not available at other schools. This opportunity will nurture my intellectual curiosity as a young scholar.
I am reaching out to gain your support with the expense of this unique experience. My goal is to raise $3,085 which will pay for my housing ($1,730), my flight ($455), books ($200) and basic essentials ($700) by May 13. Your donation will make it possible for me to take advantage of this opportunity while motivating others around me so they can strive to pursue their dreams as well. You can be sure that I will represent my family, my school and my hometown well at Harvard this summer.
