In the early morning of Monday, March 27th, a four-alarm fire tragically broke out at the home of two Hoover families in West Oakland. By the grace of God, all of our families got out in time and are safe and sound.
As you can imagine, they have unfortunately lost everything except for the clothes on their back. They are receiving basic supplies, clothes donations, and support through the community and the American Red Cross; however, they are in dire need of housing and must now replace all of their possessions.
Our hope is that the community can come together to raise enough money to support the families during this incredibly challenging time. We would like to provide them with financial support so they can make ends meet. For example; first and last months rent for each family and a few extra dollars to pay for any necessities (housewares, toiletries, furniture, phones, and even money to renew their personal identification, many did not have enough time to grab their purses).
We are aiming at $10,000 per family. We hope you can join in supporting their cause and ensuring that our students can continue to attend school and thrive.
Student Bios:
Zarinity is a dynamic 5th grader at Hoover. She is extremely talented and works hard at anything she sets her mind to. She is an amazing dancer and performer, and also a leader on the school campus. Every morning she comes early to volunteer in the student safety patrol, greeting students and families in the drop off zone and safely guiding them through the gates.
Miles is Zarinity's younger brother. He is a lovable kindergartener who is obsessed with superheros! Miles has a great sense of humor and is extremely caring towards his friends and classmates.
Sariah is a vibrant 2nd grader that is full of life and pizazz! She is extremely bright and always on her "A" game when it comes to learning. She is also a strong helper in the classroom and always kind to her peers. Her older sister Sarah is a middle schooler at West Oakland Middle School. She is an alum of Hoover and great kid!

Hoover STEAM Academy is a 21st century TK-5 school that develops independent thinkers and lifelong learners who have the skills and mindset to graduate from college and make a positive impact on their community. We proudly serve a diverse population of students whom 98% qualify for free and reduced lunch programs.
