The Honour Drum Goodness Campaign
Our aim is to provide people who are inspired by The Honour Drum an opportunity to share their goodness in a tangible way. Funds raised from this special campaign will be shared in four significant ways.

1. Gift Books for Children: Processing the publisher’s best wholesale price, and waiving all royalties, with a portion of this campaign’s funds we would like to purchase as many as 1,000 books that can be gifted to Indigenous children, and children in marginalized communities.

2. Nadleh Whut’en Youth: Nadleh Whut’en First Nation, in northern BC, is Cheryl’s home community. Currently Cheryl sits in their band council. Tim has travelled to visit there, and some of the background visuals in The Honour Drum are from Nadleh. A portion of the funds from this campaign will go towards sports equipment and art resources for the children and youth of the community’s five clans.

3. Cheryl Bear’s Community Outreach:  Cheryl travels across Canada to teach and share stories of Indigenous life – the joy, sorrow, faith and journey – through story and song. Her teaching, speaking, and music bring her into all kinds of communities, Indigenous and non-Indigenous alike. A portion of this campaign’s funds will assist in bringing Cheryl to communities that might otherwise be difficult to get to.

 4. Tim Huff’s Compassion Series work: The Compassion Series, founded by Tim, is a multifaceted social justice program designed to inspire, challenge and educate children and youth, and to support parents and educators. The program’s ethos is inspired by the very etymology of the word “compassion”, which is: to endure together or come alongside. The resources and presentations address complex Canadian social justice issues in a safe thoughtful and age-appropriate manner. The Compassion Series is a program of the non-profit charity Youth Unlimited (TYFC), funded entirely by personal donors.

The Honour Drum: Sharing the Beauty of Canada’s Indigenous People with Children, Families and Classrooms. This vibrant book is an important starting place for learning and insight that are vital and, for so many people of all ages, overdue. The Honour Drum is a love letter to the Indigenous people of Canada and a humble now to Indigenous cultures around the world.
