Help the Schafer Family!

Dennis Schafer is a long time Paramedic for AMR in Clark County Washington. Dennis has been serving his community for years and now it is time that we rally behind and support he and his family in their time of need. Dennis's 11 year old daughter, Sophia, was found to have a tumor on her kidney and it was scheduled to be removed on May 30th 2018. During the 7.5hr surgery the surgeons found that the tumor was not only attached to Sophia's kidney but had started to attach to her liver. The surgery resulted in major bleeding and the doctors have had difficulty getting her H&H and INR to appropriate levels, despite massive transfusion. Sophia, currently is at a local hospital in the ICU intubated. Once her blood levels are at a safe level she faces chemotherapy and radiation to stop the progression of the cancer.

If this blow to the Schafer family was not enough they were in the process of building their dream home in Woodland. Dennis has been working full-time on the ambulance and nights building his house, on his days off from the ambulance he has spent the time working on the house. 

Now with Sophia's life in the hands of the surgeons, a half built house that has come to a halt, and time away from work they need our help more than ever.
