Help for Gaza

I am seeking help from generous individuals who could donate any amount possible for sick children and people who are in desperate need to survive in Gaza this month.

A little bit of background to this cause:

My name is Mohammed and I am an Australian born Palestinian. In September 2014 after the war had stopped, I travelled to Gaza to meet my future wife. While I was there I experienced first hand the damage and destruction that had taken place from the war. Issues have been occuring in Gaza for a long time and it doesn't seem to be getting better.

People had been displaced from their homes and were living in very poor conditions. I also met and photographed young children born with varying deformities from the poor living conditions (Some that are too graphic but can be viewed on Dr. Ismail's Facebook page). Everyone young and old had suffered and continue to suffer with the shortage of clean water and everyday basic needs that we take for granted in our blessed country .

A lot of people from around the world have been extremely generous to assist where they can and it has made me very happy to know that these people are being helped but a continuing effort is much needed.

I was also very fortunate to meet my now father-in-law Dr. Ismail Nassar who is a Pediatrician and he specialises in complex surgeries in newborn babies and young children. He works for Al-Shifa Hospital and completes numerous sucessful surgeries on a daily basis. He also works in a private practice where he tries to assist further to people in need by providing a lower cost to patients or even non payment by way of funding from family here in Australia.

Dr. Ismail Nassar is very well known in Gaza and overseas. He regularly accomodates visiting doctors from Italy, France, Britain, Australia and Malaysia where they come to assist with difficult operations as well as learning from his experience. His work is well documented.

To allow him to continue helping sick children, I would love to reach out to people as his resources are very limited. He currently receives a salary of $1000 USD a month (Some of this is used to assist families in need who can't afford the operation) and compared to most doctors in his speciality it does not justify the countless hours of work he puts in with no extra reward other than seeing young children receive a fighting chance to survive.

On average an operation would cost approximately 500 ILS which equates to $190 AUD. As funding is very limited and most operations are on hold, your donation will be assisting families in allowing Dr. Ismail to care for their sick child.
