Lend a Helping Hand for Finn!
For those of you that don't know Baby Finn, he was born June 2015 with unexpected health complications & issues: DiGeorge Syndrome, craniosynostosis, a cleft palate, Pierre Robin Sequence, and Tetralogy of Fallot with Pulmonary Atresia and MAPCAs. Since his first critical days in the NICU, Finn's parents have struggled with ensuring they make the best decisions for him. They were ecstatic when they found out that Finn was the perfect candidate for a unique open heart surgery, unifocalization, done at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital by world-renowned surgeon Dr. Frank Hanley. To accomplish a full repair to Finn's heart, he would have to undergo two to three surgeries.
Baby Finn had the first of these life-saving heart surgeries in October of 2015. In March of this year, he had his second heart procedure and came out of it with a "full heart repair"! This was the BEST news Mommy, Daddy and this family could have heard!
Now it's time to get Finn and Mommy and Daddy ready for the next steps in his life; Surgeries to repair his craniosynostosis and cleft palate.
Upon his birth, Finn's parents went from a double income household to a single income household. Mommy and Daddy have spent the last 10 months staying at hospitals and hotels and Daddy travels 2 hours from their home to get to the hospital after his work schedule.
The savings that was set aside for a down payment on a home and Finn's education has been depleted by mounting medical, travel and housing costs.
Over the next year, they will need assistance paying their $1650 monthly rent, their household bills, hotel costs for the upcoming surgeries and money for groceries and meals from the hospital.
They finally headed back home a few weeks ago after the success of the second surgery, and now must begin planning for the remaining surgeries, hospital stays, hotels and travel costs that they face this coming year.
Due to these mounting medical costs, and downsizing to a single income, the family can no longer afford their normal cost of living.
It is a humbling position to be in, but if Finn has taught us anything so far, it's that family and love come first. It's time for us to reach out again and help this family make it through this challenging time! Family and friend's generosity last year made it possible for them to get through the first surgeries and maintain their current home.
