Rockin4Bar Equine-Assisted Therapy

Donation protected
Rockin 4 Bar Ranch is an equine facility located in the Mesilla Valley, just south of Las Cruces, New Mexico. Set against the breathtaking Organ Mountains, the horse ranch is an oasis of lush green within the dry and unforgiving high desert.

You might say that Rockin 4 Bar is an oasis in other ways.

Rockin 4 Bar ranch consists of three programs. For the Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy program, the horses are trained and provided by the program therapist. These horses are not used in any of the other programs at Rockin 4 Bar ranch. We merely provide the facility for this program to utilize, and seek to improve our facility. The children learn to control a herd of three horses, which empowers the children and gives them the confidence and sense of control to heal from sexual abuse trauma.

In the Horses 4 Veterans program, we match rescued horses with military veterans suffering from injuries including PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). These horses are cared for and trained to ensure there are no health or behavioral issues that would prevent a strong, therapeutic bond with the veteran. In addition, veterans are screened and trained in the care of a horse, to ensure that these horses also receive a therapeutic companion and receive only the best care and attention.

Horses for the Rocking 4 Bar Riding Academy are well-trained and gentle for our young, inexperienced students. Advanced students will pair off with one of our more athletic, but well-trained horses. Our students are children who often come from lower socio-economic status who do not have access to horses and horseback riding. Learning to ride horses and learning to care for them, teaches children responsibility for another living being, teaches them confidence, hard work and friendships with the horses and fellow students.

The training, medical care and daily care and maintenance of the horses and the facility are costly and constant. We are seeking to improve the facility to better accommodate those with disabilities, and have a larger break area/rest area for our students. In addition, our goal is to improve the corrals and stall areas for the horses.

Our first funding goal is to raise $50,000 our first year in order to accomplish the following:

Larger building with disabled access and restroom facilities
• Air Conditioning of the building
• Outside canopy for shade for the horses and riders
• Large corral with a wide gate
• Horse washing area and equipment
• Elevated pad for the horse stalls
• Covered stalls for the horses
• Monthly hay, grain, farrier service (hoof and horseshoe expert), veterinarian services for the horses care

We thank you so much for helping us help our community's children, our brave veterans and our rescued horses. Your gift will do so much good!

Thank you!
