Indigo, the most loving and adorable asshole of a cat I've ever met required a procedure this week that was quite costly, setting us back $1,100 to be exact. It's a good thing that Jenn had a little nest egg put aside and that the pet hospital provided her with loan resources which she used to cover a small portion of that amount.
Indigo has a history of urinary tract infections which Jenn usually treats with the necessary over the counter medications. This time, unfortunately, the infection required a visit to the vet where she was told to take him to an emergency pet hospital immediately.
His condition had, in fact, become life threatening. A day longer and we might have lost him. Due to the blockage and his bladder full of debris (crystals) the doc performed a procedure to flush it out by use of a catheter.
We were informed in advance that many cats often end up going back due to their inability to urinate afterward. It depends on the severity of the blockage and their overall health while fighting the infection.
Indigo has been home for one day now and he's still having difficulty with peeing. Just as we feared we must take him back because his condition is not improving.
I'm not one to ever ask for help and neither is Jenn. But I reckon we'll swallow our pride this once because Indigo is a family member, certainly more than just a pet or a cat. He's our child. So is his little brother Oliver who appears to be as concerned as Jenn and I.
We absolutely love our little furry children and can't bear the thought of losing them. It's been heavy facing such odds as well as the burden of unexpected vet bills. We gave every spare buck and coin we had on the first procedure and took on a bit of debt as well.
Our hope is to ease some of the blow of recent vet bills but to also raise the money needed to take him back ASAP for the second procedure. This isn’t one of those things that can wait.
Anything helps and certainly adds up. Your contributions WILL ONLY BE USED on caring for Indigo. We are more than willing to provide receipts if necessary. Thanks, Everyone.
