Monday - 08-JAN-2017

Monday: John is still the same this morning - sedated and sleeping with pain meds and antibotiocs are helping him heal. No updates on any upcoming surgeries.

Sunday afternoon: It was a long day of praying and waiting. John remains on the ventilator and heavily sedated. Penny's sister, Becky, is with her helping her through the dark hours.

Sunday morning he was rushed to surgery, as a result, of the colon repair started leaking. To compound the stress John's blood pressure wouldn't stabilize after the surgery.

John's future holds recovery from phenomena which was the cause of the catastrophic coughing, healing to the point where surgeons do not need to peek inside any further and then rehabilitation. Slow and steady healing from the many surgeries on his abdomen. Sadly the hospital bills are mushrooming - and we must help John and Penny worry only about recovery, not money.

John out of ICU. He is partially "stitched up." He is still on a ventilator getting masses of antibiotics to help him heal. He has been in a sedated coma to help his body manage the unbearable pain both in his lungs and abdomen. Doctors are slowly decreasing the meds trying to balance cognitive reactions while managing the pain.

He has a long road to a full recovery. His determination and unyielding faith will guide him through the arduous rehabilitation.

Back Story:
Last week John took himself to the hospital as he had coughed so heard he knew he had hurt himself. A week later and at least four surgeries later we finally have him partially "sewn up." John's coughing had torn something in his stomach. The first surgery was exploratory to appraise the injury. Second surgery John lost his appendix, gallbladder, and part of his colon removed and a hernia fixed. John was not "stitched up" as further post-op surgeries would be required to verify his colon is healing properly.
