Printing Comics for an Expo

Hello, friends!

I am preparing to host a table at the Olympia Comics Festival on June 2nd, and I need your help.

I want to be able to show my best work, which is done entirely digitally.  I need help covering the costs of printing runs for two comic books.  Let me introduce you to them:

Lulu & Muffin

This is a full-color webcomic I created in 2012.  It features the antics of a Hyrax and a Koala in a sanctuary for animals that cannot live in the wild.  The two battle territory-hungry monkeys,  debate with politically savvy turtles, and do a fair bit of self discovery along the way.

I'm in the process of expanding parts of the story with new pages.  The first 12 pages are ready to go, and that's the first book I want to print.  My quote from Lulu.com for 120 saddle-stitched books on glossy 9x7  comes to $579.60.

Yet Unnamed Comics Anthology


This will be a black and white anthology of several short comic stories I've created over the past 10 years.  Some are as short as a page, others as many as 9 pages.  I cover a wide range of themes in these stories, from the insightful to the humorous to the dramatic.  I will also include single page illustrations in between stories opposite their title pages.

All told, this comes to 48 black and white pages with a full color cover.  Lulu.com quotes 120 perfect bound industry standard-sized comic books at $296.40.

Going to a show has additional costs associated with it.  To cover the costs of travel, tabling, food and other needs I'm seeking an additional $106.00

That brings the total goal to an even $1,000.

The opportunity to offer a physical product to comic book fans would mean the world to me.  There's something special about owning a book that forms a bond between reader and author in a way online images never can.  To this point it simply hasn't been an option for me as an independent comics artist.  The financial hurdle is too high. 

And that is why I am turning to you.  Please, help me get over that hurdle.  Help me form that bond with readers and build a lasting fanbase that will allow me to continue producing more work.
