Study Abroad in Wales, United Kingdom

My name is Lorance Washington Jr. and I am from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. One of my goals before I came to college was to travel abroad. Since enrolling at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma I have searched for the right program that would aid me in my goal of completing part of my undergraduate studies in a different country. Now in my junior year of college I have finally found a program that will send me to Swansea University in Wales, United Kingdom for a whole semester.            I've received a scholarship called the Brad Henry International Scholarship that will help cover my tuition, airfare and lodging. However, I still need to come up with funds to help cover general living costs(food, toiletries, clothes, etc.). I will be staying on campus in Wales for about 6 months from (tentatively) Jan. 24-June 5. My goal before departing is to raise $1,500 to help cover these costs. If you are able to contribute in any form or fashion, I would greatly appreciate the gesture!            So far throughout my time at NSU, I've earned a variety of awards including the Outstanding Freshman award and multiple President's Honor Roll selections. I hold leadership positions within various organizations on campus including: Founding Father of the Zeta chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity, Registration chair for the Cherokee County Angel Tree and Vice President of the Association of Black Collegians. I am very involved within other organizations including: President's Leadership Class, SOAR, The Northeastern student newspaper, Naturehawks and Student Mobilization. I commit part of my time in giving back to the community through a variety of different service opportunities including: Rookie Bridge Camp, 9/11 Day of Service, MLK Day of Service, Big Event and BAHS's Leadership Retreat.
