Help Kevin Walk Again

Donation protected
On November 6th, 2015, our lives changed forever. My brother, Kevin Walker, was riding his bike in Stuart, Florida - a mile from where he was living - when a trailer came loose from a landscaper's truck and struck him.

After being pinned under the trailer for quite some time, he was airlifted to a hospital in Ft. Pierce - but not before receiving over 40 pints of blood. The "run away" trailer had severed his femoral artery and they were unable to use a tourniquet because of the extent of his injuries. He was intubated at the scene and remained so for nearly a month. Kevin remained in the Trauma ICU for nearly two months, missing his birthday, Thanksgiving and even Christmas. He underwent countless surgeries, including the one that would remove his leg up to his hip. His was a more rare amputation called a hip disarticulation  - making a normal prosthetic impossible.

This very active, loving, son, brother and father of two is now an amputee and unable to work and live a normal life.

Kevin believes it's a miracle that he's alive and feels he has a new calling. He's been home, living with my parents, for less than a month now but is already speaking out about trailer laws and safety. His mission is to change the laws and save others from a similar tragedy. It's not impossible for him to someday walk again, but it will be costly. We need your help. We want Kevin back on his feet again. However, you can't walk before you crawl...

Kevin's immediate need is for a prosthetic sitting device - to be able to sit without intense pain. He cannot sit for more than 15 min's at a time due to this pain.

We can promise you that all you invest in Kevin will be paid forward. Kevin is on a mission... let's help him help himself - and then others! We support Kevin's mission for trailer safety reform. If we can stop this from happening to even one other person, we've succeeded. From our family to yours, thank you - from the bottom of our hearts.
