Help Jixer Walk Again!

Hi everyone,
The dog pictured is my dog Jixer. She is only 5 years old. We rescued her from some people at a flea market when she was barely weaned. They had her in a tiny rabbit cage and wanted $40 for her. We paid it, to get her out of there.
She's grown up into the most loveing careing dog you can imagine. She is our baby, our comfort, our rock. When we're sad, she will lay for hours with us, if I have a migraine, she won't leave my side. She follows my husband everywhere and keeps in sane in an insane world.
Yesterday we went to the park. She was running and playing like normal. She was sitting under a bench when we went to leave and when she got up, her back left leg wouldnt work. Just wouldn't work. She was desperately trying to drag it behind her.
We took her to he ER Vet and we were there half the night. This morning we took her back to a Vet Neurologist.
Later on today she goes to get an MRI. The MRI alone is $2600. The neurologist throughly examinied her. He's a great doctor and explained all of the possiblities. It's most likely that she either has a slipped disc or had a spinal stroke. It could be worse... but we don't want to think of that.
If she has a slipped disc, she has to have surgery. If she had a stroke, it will be weeks of Physical Therapy.
They are quoting upwards of $8,000 to get her walking again. We have already paid over $3,000 as of today in visists, consultations and the MRI fees.
