Ikki the Cat Needs Your Help

Overview

Ikki (Icarus) is need of a dental procedure for issues that are affecting her teeth and gums.  It is preventing her from eating naturally and is not getting her the nutrition she needs.  Unfortunately at this time I have been laid off from my full time position and am struggling to make ends meet, nevermind the added vet bills.  ANY help is EXTREMELY appreciated.  I've been quoted $1900 by the vet for the procedure.  

Meet Ikki.

Ikki is an 8 year old female house cat but most importantly she is my best friend.  Never before have I had a bond with a cat such as this one and she is such an amazing cat with huge personality.  Our bond is on a level that seems otherwordly and I could not fathom anything to happen to her.  

Her favorite activities include sprawling out on the bath mat, draping herself over any surface she can find, playing in between the shower curtains, and taking afternoon naps together.

Heart to Heart

I'm just going to lay it all out.  I am terrified.  The stigma surrounding any procedure that involves anesthesia is something that I can not get over.  The thought of potentially losing my best friend to something like that is unimaginable.  Actually, I can imagine it and makes me cry every day I do.  This is the number one reason why pet parents choose not to get dental work even as simple as a teeth cleaning on their pets.   Unfortunately this is not as simple as a cleaning for Ikki.  Her dental issues cause her to bypass chewing her food, in turn leading her to vomiting her entire meal soon after eating.  This is something I need to do for her.

In wake of my fear of anesthesia, I was recommended the local Angell MSPCA animal hospital here that specializes in such procedures.  Unfortunately they are quoted even higher than what I am asking for here (up to $2300) and are booked until January 2018 (my vet said she should not wait that long to get this procedure done).  Luckily I trust my vet at the Weston Veterinary Clinic and they have openings with their dentist late August/ early September.    

While raising this money will not quiet my fear, it will allow me to provide the care she absolutely needs.  This could not have come at a worse time.  I was laid off from my full time position this year and have been working multiple odd jobs just to make rent and other bills.  This vet bill is just a huge unexpected blow I can not financially handle.  I would not be asking for this if I had means of covering this.  I hate asking for money from people, it's not in my nature.  But this is not for me, it's for Ikki, and it's not fair to my baby to let her suffer due to my pride. 

What You Mean to Me

Anyone that donates, I can personally say you are somethign truly special to me.  Anyone that cares even an ounce of what I care for Ikki, cares enough that I am eternally grateful.  I don't expect to make the full $1900, but ANYTHING helps.  Truly.  Thank you.  Thank you for even reading this.  I wish I could personally hug every person that donates to this cause.  It means the absolute world to me.

 Questions and Timelines

I would like to be able to book the appointment for this procedure in their late August / early September openings.  If you can't donate before then that's okay, anything helps at any point in time, but any money that can be donated before that time period is greatly appreciated.  Obviously I don't want to book the appointment until I have some means to pay it.
