Funky hair don't care Eva -

Eva is a beautiful 12 year old girl with a personality to melt your heart . After three weeks of diagnostic testing including a brain biopsy , Eva was  diagnosed with a  very rare inoperable grade 4 Embryonal Tumor( a type of brain cancer). To this day because of the rare presentation of the tumors , an official diagnosis of what type of Embryonal tumor hasn't been given although they believe it looks most like Medula Blastoma. Her case is so atypical that it is being followed for research purposes at Mayo Clinic. This diagnosis has hit the family all by surprise and naturally they are not financially prepared for the medical bills and expenses that already have begun to pile up.

On March 23, 2017 Eva was admitted to the Children's National Medical Center in Washington D.C. and so began the 3 week journey of diagnostic testing, 5 spinal taps, one brain biopsy, and a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt that was placed to relieve pressure on her brain caused by Hydrocephalus (fluid accumulation). Due to complications, she underwent 3 more shunt placement surgeries. On April 11, 2017, and after 10 days of waiting for the biopsy results, the family was told there was a preliminary diagnosis of the tumor. On April 17, 2016, Eva began chemotherapy. Eva is now undergoing Radiation and Chemotherapy at University of Maryland ( Insurance denied treatment to Mass. General in Boston). Upon completion of her radiation she is due for 4 more rounds of Chemo and is expected to be completely done with treatment by November 2017.

As a result of having Pediatric Brain Cancer, Eva has issues with vision. She also temporarily lost her memory but by a true miracle regained it. She spent a couple of weeks without being able to eat and or keep down food, lost weight, became sleep deprived, and had shave her head as the chemotherapy started causing significant hairloss.

Eva is only a child. She has endured more in a month than most do in a lifetime. Her battle has not been easy but it will be grand. We have faith in her and her recovery.

Her smile is a true testament to her faith and resilience.

Eva is a southern gal ! Born and raised in Virginia and she's proud of it. Anyone who knows Eva can tell you that she's the most friendliest person you'll ever meet but she is beyond friendly. Eva has a heart of gold, full of compassion and empathy. Eva's goal is always to make you smile and you won't leave a conversation without smiling or laughing. Eva is wise beyond her years, who loves discussing politics if you give her the chance! She is always surprising her family and friends with her old soul wisdom. Eva wants to be a photographer or a director when she grows up and we need to make sure that this amazing 12 year old gets a chance to grow up. Eva is a fighter, she fought through four surgeries so far.. all in one week!  Despite all that she has gone through so far, she still smiles. Eva and her family live in Virginia and will have to move to Maryland for treatment. Suffice it to say ,they need all the help they can get financially as Eva's parents are busy taking care of her and unable to work full time. Even with some medical insurance ( still in the process and not guaranteed), the expenses are still there. Eva's parents are truly hardworking people. Eva's father last year had to undergo open heart surgery and began working merely months after surgery and continues to work as much as possible. Eva's mother has remained bedside since Eva has been in the hospital.    Eva has a long journey ahead of her but her family and friends are all  standing on faith and praying for a full recovery !
Whatever the contribution, it is most appreciated. Thank you and God bless you all.
